I always find myself going to my queue to find which Gintama episode I have to watch next.
Whenever I go to the Gintama anime page directly, it doesnt suggest that episode.

Expected action:
UI on a anime home page is updated to allow user to watch the oldest episode he has not seen yet/ episode after the one he watched last.

Sample from user queue page:
One Punch Mod

Personally, while I love that the queue does that, I don't think it makes sense to have it as a feature on the show page--the two pages have different purposes.

On the show page you can already tell which episodes you've watched (they show the orange bar just like on the queue page), so to me it would just get in my way of having a quick overview of all episodes available for a show if it did anything more to emphasize the next unwatched episode and in the process made it less convenient to see the others more or less at a glance.

While I agree 99% with what Loreen said, (I wouldn't want the overall layout of the show pages to change), I can appreciate how on a show like Gintama having 6 seasons it may be more desirable to open up the stripe for whatever season you have last watched one of the episodes, rather than just showing season 6 every time you visit the page. Perhaps that's more in line with what was being suggested here...

Frankly, I cant think of any other purpose for the show home page for a user who is already watching but to direct him to the next episode.
For reference, Hulu does what I describe for their show home pages, and I really like it.
