If you are in need of a laugh, boy, have we got the show for you. Golden Boy has just made its debut as a new catalog title now available on Crunchyroll, and is this classic series good. This is very exciting news, as this is one of the best comedy series that I have seen to date, and a veritable must-watch for anyone who loves gag anime. One thing I have to mention right now: make sure to put the kids to bed before viewing this one, as there is a lot of perverted humor that is not appropriate for kids. That being said, let's dive right in.

Golden Boy follows Kintaro Oe, a young man who dropped out of a Tokyo law school after completing all of his graduation requirements, as he travels around Japan taking temporary jobs and learning about the world by traveling and doing. There are two things that become apparent as we watch the series: first, Kintaro is always around pretty women and he is really, really perverted. and second, Kintaro is a genius. Seriously, he is the textbook example of a crouching moron, hidden badass. In the first episode, Kintaro works at a computing firm cleaning the toilets. He finds himself getting in a lot of trouble since he kinda pervs on his boss and he accidentally ruins the project the company was working on. However, during his extremely short time as a janitor at the firm he picks up coding and is instrumental in getting the project he ruined earlier finished on time. Most episodes follow a similar pattern: Kintaro gets a job in a new field. Kintaro meets a beautiful woman that he can drool over. Kintaro is dopey but overall fairly competent at the job he's been performing. Kintaro shows his hidden depths and impresses everyone only to leave once they finally accept him. Despite being a little formulaic it is just so damn enjoyable . Kintaro is a really likable character and for every silly gag or uncomfortable fantasy he is involved in there is also a moment where we can see his courage, compassion and insight. Another great thing about Golden Boy is seeing the wide variety of jobs he gets involved in. He learns about computers, swimming, elections and more with nothing but his curiosity and his trusty notebook.

So, as I mentioned in the beginning, I feel like this is a can't-miss series and one of the best comedies you'll find. Watching Kintaro navigate through all of the ridiculous situations he is involved in and somehow touch the hearts of the people he encounters is a joy to behold. So I say give it a try, it's fun and it is short at only six episodes, so you don't have to commit to a huge series. Great thing is, Golden Boy is available in Crunchyroll both subbed and dubbed so you can watch it in whatever medium you prefer! Check it out and tell us what you think!

Is it too late for me to add that I watched this and it was, in fact, pretty good.

Kintaro is a bit perfect for my taste, but he is hilarious nonetheless.
