If you didn't know then Nintendo have in the past blocked all of their copyrighted content (i.e gameplay) from youtube. Witch led to a shit ton of people getting pissed at them for doing this. So, now they're trying to give something in return... And what is that? A new MCN (Multi channel network), if you don't know what a MCN is then it's a network that helps you and protects you with things like copyright strikes on your youtubbe channel by licensing copyrighted material from it's license owners. And in return they take a bit of your total add revenue on youtube.

Source : https://r.ncp.nintendo.net/ (You need both PayPal and Google accounts to partner with them!)

So, what do you think about this?

I personally see both good and bad things about this First we have the great thing, they will allow you to post Nintendo content on youtube without the risk of having your account closed or getting your add revenue slashed away... However they're currently JUST giving you a 70% add revenue, other MCN networks currently give 90%. So if they want to stay competitive with other MCN's then they'll have to improve over there. Also what if your channel doesn't just feature Nintendo content but also PlayStation, Xbox and PC content, will Nintendo go over to the platform holders/publishers and license content from them... I personally don't see Nintendo going to Sony and Microsoft to license their stuff since they're both competitors to them. Then we also have the fact that what if you upload other non-gaming things like movie reviews, will Nintendo go and license the footage from movie studios and/or their publishers and if not, then will they help you out of a copyright strike?

Far as I know you can't really be in more than one MCN. I have a hard time believing this would pick up a lot of people, even if a channel is pure Nintendo they potentially could lock themselves out of monetizing non-Nintendo content, and that would kill them if they ever needed to branch out.

It's their shit, they can do whatever. Just makes them look bad when no one else is doing it, not even EA or Ubi.

I looked it up a bit more, it would seem like they're going to launch 2 MCN networks. One where you can partner one video with them and get 60% add revenue and another one where you partner your entire channel with them and get 70% add revenue.

EA and Ubisoft won't do this for a simple reason called free advertisement. They don't slap a copyright strike on your ass for uploading gameplay from their games. Infact, you can start a brand new channel and upload their content now as long as you don't show story content like cut-scenes... But even then they might not care since they see it as your own content under fair use as long as you talk over the sound in the video and don't have subtitles enabled. Where as Nintendo have in the past just slapped copyright strikes and removed add revenue in the past.

Nintendo hasn't been doing as well as Sony or Microsoft these past few years. They still dominate the hand held market for sure but...
Anyway, it seems to me that this is an attempt to get more publicity to help their sales.

Considering like almost all the developer's besides a few like Nintendo don't care that their games are getting "Free" advertisement from people making youtube videos i just see this as a way for Nintendo to try and make themselves look better.

It's weird that they've come up with this. Not that I'm against it but... Why? :/

Nintendo is about their cash.
I'm sure that 70% is set in stone, and probably wouldn't change anytime soon.

I could only see Nintendo fanboys that only play Pokemon and Smash Bros actually using this effectively since it will probably only allow you to monetize Nintendo videos but eh.
