Are you superstitious?

Alright, so I have a question. Are you superstitious?

I'd say I'm kinda superstitious... I believe in the possibility of ghosts and stuff like that. To be honest, when I hear my house creaking, or if my game glitches out at night, I freak out and automatically think it's a ghost. But that's probably from reading too many creepypastas. ^^ I also kinda believe in bad luck and good luck and stuff like that.

I constantly wish ghosts and such were real, for various reasons (that I don't wanna get banned for saying).

Alas, it was not meant to be. I'm not superstitious at all, because it wouldn't make sense for a ghost to suddenly jump out of my closet after however many years of nothing.

Nope and that probably stems from my atheist beliefs.

However, I have quite a great intrigue in things involving the occult and paranormal. While I do not belief in such things, I always enjoy watching things involving those themes and aspects.

The only thing I believe in that could be considered "superstitious" is Aliens, however, I wouldn't consider that superstition considering the size of the universe and the endless possibilities for the environment on various planets.

I also sort of believe in karma, but not in the sense of paranormal force that works in mysterious ways. I believe in it more in the sense of, if your a dick, people are bound to be a dick back to you.

I don't have an opinion on this. I don't want to say I believe and I don't want to say I don't. Even though I have never had a paranormal/supernatural experience that doesn't necessarily throw out the notion. There is a saying that says " Absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence." , I agree with this saying. I can not affirm or deny the existence of such things.Things like the paranormal/supernatural are beyond human explanation, so we can't prove the paranormal/supernatural scientifically. All we can do is really guess and go by witness accounts as evidence. However for most cases they can be easily debunked with simple reason. If your house makes noises the most probable cause is the fact the house is old/settling. I tend to look for a more logical conclusion for things than assume some supernatural force, but i don't dismiss the possibility.

Oops totally over looked the bad and good luck part of the post. I think good and bad luck has to deal with probability and not some supernatural force.

I would be lying if I said I have never been superstitious, but I think once you sort out how the world works, superstitions begin to fall apart and look a tad primitive if not entirely silly.

I believe in the potential possibilities of anything that hasn't been or cannot be disproven. With that said I usually go through all other known possibilities first before making any assumption. As far as luck goes, I create my own... whether that be my preparation and skill or my code seeded by a CPU clock.

Not at all. I believe luck/bad luck/etc. are words we use to describe events that we find uncannily beneficial. We have an innate desire to apply labels to things we perceive and experience, 'luck' included. I think paranormal phenomenon sits in the same boat. Things happen, and we desperately want to understand them. When we can't, we fill the void on our own.

Aliens are a bit more of a crapshoot in my book. I want to believe in them because there's an unfathomable amount of stuff beyond our planet, and I'd like to think at least some of it is interesting.
