I can see this thread becoming a heated discussion already . SO, what do you think? Are you a Narutard *cough, Naruto fan, cough* or do you hate it? Do you think that it's way overrated, or is it 'SO the bomb?' How about Bleach and the other mainstreamers? Give examples, yell at eachother, add to the list of: Anime Controversy!

Mainstreamers? Love vs. Hate

ooo I watched Naruto, but i never could get interested, but i think it is a good anime, if there where so many darm fillers i'd prolly watch it

Bleach is a great anime, but overrated, and the manga is way better
i've lost interest in bleach also (i read the manga's though)

Mainstream animes are usually great, but over time they can get sorta boring

Sailor Moon, is my all time favorite anime
i think it is (was?) mainstream, but now when i tell somebody at school sailor moon is favorite anime they usually laugh because it's so girly....but the thing is, it was most likely there first anime too o_o

i bet this sounds like a bunch of blah blah blah lmao

Heh, it usually is most people's first animes, nobody really has a right to criticize that one. Sure, it's girly, but most of us have watched at least five episodes wouldn't you say?

I watched a bit of naruto and bleach, but I didn't get hooked up at it at all... The only mainstreams(today or last year) that I got hooked up are The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, Death Note, and Fate Stay Night.

I think Naruto is a great anime. Yeah I would like it some of the fillers were not there, but as and overall its a good anime. They just need to stay on the main story points and not go off track so much. These are part of the reason I feel I can only watch Naruto one time through and then I'm done with it.

I can't really say anything about Bleach yet cause I've only seen 10 episodes and haven't been hooked in yet. It seems ok tho.

Sailor Moon was my first anime as well. One of the greats thats for sure. One of the few long animes that I can watch again and again.

Are you kidding? That dub was way more then BAD! Horrific if I do say so myself. I watched one episode of it on YouTube to try and see if I could remember how the voices sounded... I had a headache within the first two minutes. Now, every time I talk about Sailor Moon to someone I have to tell them to not EVEN DARE to watch the dub because it is so annoying. Ah well, at least crunchyroll has the original, lol.

I think both Naruto and Bleach are average, I bet their are other animes that aren't famous but better.

Both Bleach and Naruto are repeative and both have no plot in a way.

Bleach-Ichigo doesn't even have a goal and the whole plot is about protecting this friends. I mean the SOul Soceity part and the Hallow Place part. The plot is some bad guy kidnaps a friend and then Ichigo goes to the emenies territory and kills them all and takes back the friend. Few months later another friend is kidnapped, so he goes to the enemies territory and kills all of them again. No point!

Naruto-The plot is filled with useless fillers, even in the beginning The plot is repeative fighting to get to a goal, fighting that enemy aren't going to make him Hokage, he just wastes his time. If you want a goal aim for the person who can give it.

Infamous>Famous
All the famous ones drag on the plot to make more money screwing up the goodness. All the unfamous go through the plot regularly and don't have pointless fillers and don't drag on the story.
Also completed animes>run-on animes.

Bleach:

Bleach doesn't even have a freaking plot!

-He becomes a shinigama
-Kill some hallows to pass the time
-Rukai is kidnapped
-Goes to enemy territory
-50 episodes of fights that don't contribute to the cause
-Ichigo rescues her
-Kill hallows to past time
-Orihme gets kidnapped
-Ichigo goes to enemy territory
-50 episodes of fights that don't contribute to the cause

See the CYCLE?

Ichigo doesn't even have a freaking goal, all that happens is someone gets kidnapped, he goes to enemy territory, fights, wins and rescues! Whoooo...

One gets rescued, another gets kidnapped. Like you finish one homework and another pops up. It ain't fun.

Note: Did bleach have to use 100+ chapters to give Ichigo bankai? it doesn't even help. Everyone overpowers bankai so there wasn't even a point for it. It was useless for only one big battle and then small battles with hallows.

Now another 100+ chapters to give him hallow mask.

The author could go on forever.

Naruto:

Millions of fillers and overated. Along with the other obvious reasons people say. No point in typing it out.

Okay, now THIS is a GREAT reply, people should take this for an example, .

ANYWAY, I haven't watched much of Bleach, but it's seriously like that? Yeesh, this doesn't help my opinion of it. Sailor Moon is the same way, they pick a fight and defeat an enemy with every episode. The only interesting thing is the romance and that drags ON and ON and ON and ON, too. Mainstreamers are definitely (for the most part) overrated.

Samurai X, for example of the 'for the most part,' however, ROCKS. We all know it. Only slightly boring at points.

I have mixed feelings about those two anime. Naruto and Bleach drags on. I cannot keep up with the character development and plot because I skip so many episodes. I admit, some of them are actually good. I like the character backgrounds and serious moments. However, when they get to the fighting... it takes 235583945894588 episodes (kinda like DBZ). I did plan on watching the rest of the series, but I'm not sure now. Even the manga looks like it goes on forever.
I understand that Naruto is 12 years old (or whatever number) and acts like the normal hyperactive male preteen, but he takes these situations to a whole new level. He is one lucky kid for having the enemy actually stand there to listen to his blabbering. I can only tolerate so much of his big mouth. He says the same thing over and over... =_=. Though I do admire his friendliness and determination.
One thing I don't understand is why people do not like Sasuke. He acts very mature for his age, but when you look at the hell he has been through, it makes sense. Of course it is hard to get him to open up because he is so consumed with killing Itachi and gaining immense power. If you have been like that most of your life, then it's going to be difficult to change his personality. I don't blame him for hating Naruto on learning better tricks when Sasuke is the one trying so hard to get stronger. The fans are trying to make him act like Naruto, (from my understanding) which is crazy. There is bound to be a serious ninja out there. I mean, what is the difference between he, Gaara, and Neji? They all have the arrogant attitudes (which I love).
Sakura... yeah, she's annoying. She doesn't seem to get it. And I wish she was more useful, but that doesn't come around until Shippuden. =_=
Bleach.... I haven't watched enough to give my opinion. All I know is that Orihime is useless and Renji and Byakuya are so friggin' sexy.

Tsk, tsk, tsk... Disrespecting older animes, no I'm not replying to any of the above comments. I was going through animes today, because, again, I was trying to find some more oldies. I don't know HOW many older series that I've come across today that were totally disrespected with one of two things: chain letters or diss. Explain to me how an anime that INFLUENCED Naruto, Bleach and all the crudtastic mainstreamers of today can stink worse then they do? Explanation: people who don't give the animes a chance know naught what they are missing. Kudos to you all for respecting the 'Classics!'

I don't concider Naruto or Bleach to be classic. They're on TV & too fresh in people's memories. They're not even that old.
