A few weeks ago someone on google + linked to an anime (I think it was on crunchyroll) about a group of high school girl tabletop gamers in high school. I never wrote down the name or saved the link ... does anyone happen to know this anime?

SAKI

Synopsis
Saki Miyanaga is a high school freshman who doesn't like mahjong. Ever since she was a child, she would lose her New Year's gift money during her family mahjong game. If she won, her parents would be upset, and if she lost, well, she lost. As a result, she's learned to play in such a way that her score differential always remains ±0: not good enough to win, but not bad enough to lose. When we meet her, she's being dragged to her school's mahjong club by an old friend. How will a girl who hates mahjong, yet has become adept at the game as a result of her upbringing, survive in this environment?

D-FRAG

Synopsis
Kazama Kenji likes to believe he is something of a delinquent. Moreover, others seem to like to agree that he is. Of course, Kenji's gang finds their way to a group of four not-so-normal girls—Chitose, Sakura, Minami and Roka—and all at once, whatever reputation he may have is nothing compared to the outrageous behavior of the girls. Shanghaied into joining their club, what will happen to his everyday life from that point on?

Thank you but unfortunately not. This was specifically tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons. The cast was all female and in the first episode were looking for a new member while debating about replay adventures.

I just spent 2 hours going through google +'s front page hoping to see it again ... nothing. Fingers still crossed but this seems to niche for most anime people and a lot of the gamers I associate with are pre-anime in the west so there is no love lost on them for it.

Not sure if you know this already, but myanimelist has a "Game" genre category. So when you go search/advanced search, it could be listed in the results. Just an idea.

Did it look like newer/older anime?

Did not know that, but unfortunately didn't see it.

It was definitely a newer looking anime.
