So I've been binge watching for a while now, sitting on my couch about 15 feet from an older 4:3 60" tv. Everything was fine until the caption size changed to less than half the size it was. Now it is difficult to read - the captions are far too small. If I understood japanese this wouldn't be a problem, but well, I don't. Is there any way to change the caption size manually? thanks

Unfortunately, there is not. It is my understanding that the subtitles for the Roku (and most if not all device streams) are hard-coded.

While the newer Roku units (such as the Roku 3) support soft subtitles, the older ones do not.

It's actually more to do with video quality as you get larger subtitles on lower quality video streams, but they get smaller the higher the video quality goes and it can change at any point during the stream (I know this as the subtitles have changed size and the video quality has gone down for no apparent reason even though nothing has changed in regards to download speeds).
