Favorite Western Animations?
Posted 1/31/15
What's your favorite western animations? Mine would have to be errrr....Legend of Korra, sans book 2, TMNT 2003, and W.I.T.C.H, and everything else I forgot.

P.S. Is this appropriate for the anime section? We have a RWBY and Legend of Korra Discussion.

All those classic Cartoon Network and Nick cartoons. From the 60's to the (very) early 2000's...90's cartoons were the best though.

I like a couple of more modern cartoons as well, like Adventure Time or the Avatar series, especially the first series (Last Airbender).

And I do enjoy Disney, but I miss the days of hand-drawn animation. Somehow 3D animation/etc feels...cold.

Venture Brothers, freaking unique and hilarious and touching.

Probably also adventure time, since it's just absolute quality

Futurama.

Movies... I really like Mulan... because I can relate to it so much. It's funny how the story is set in like 300-600AD, but the same cultural oppression could still be seen in present day society. 1stly, the oppression of parents to child, enforcing cultural norms on children and forcing your children to do something because their parents taught them that this is the best way while ignoring a person's individuality. 2ndly society's oppression... women cannot go to war and are expected to learn to pour tea, and even though Mulan helped them win the war, the general dismissed her from the army because she is female.

I really like animation and always have. If I'm given the choice between animation and live action, I go for animated. So my lists are long...

TV series:

Doug
Rugrats
the entire DCAU
Young Justice
Generator Rex
both Avatar series
Samurai Jack
Futurama
Courage the Cowardly Dog
Thundercats (both versions)
He-man (particularly the cross over special with She-ra)
Swat Kats
Gargoyles
Beetlejuice
RWBY (how did I forget this one?)
I'm probably forgetting some...

Movies:

Last Unicorn
Fern Gully
Land Before Time (only the first one)
Batman: Under the Red Hood
Justice League: Doom
Mulan
Tarzan
Flight of Dragons
Sinbad
Life and Adventures of Santa Clause (animated, not claymation)
Treasure Planet
Titan AE

Legend of Korra, RWBY, and Boondocks.

Family Guy, American Dad, and Aqua Team Hunger Force are all funny, but they all fall from the same tree (Boondocks I guess does too, but I love the animation).
