When I attended private school someone stole my entire gym uniform, as well as my sneakers, when I left my locker unattended

last year someone broke in and stole my dads Winchester 32. special, my brothers Savage, some other crappy guns and my laptop.

gave me an excuse to get a better laptop.
and my brother an excuse to get that AK-47 he always wanted (and a big gun safe).

My fam used my car without asking me and didn't lock the door.

I found out my backpack that I used for many years (and several CDs and books and a gaming system and GPS contained within) was gone. I asked my family and they blamed ME for it. I wasn't even too upset about anything except the backpack itself but that completely illogical blame shift struck a major nerve, especially since they ganged up on me for it. I pretty much exploded on them when I had enough and didn't speak to them for a week. Pretty much the length of time it took them to figure out that they owed me an apology. I was smoldering for days after that, too.

I take good care of my things and am pretty cautious, so that could be why I was so offended and angered when my family blamed me.

I still remember that good old reliable backpack. It was a dark green Moda backpack with drawstrings. It was perfectly spacious and I carried it everywhere. There was also a valuable snake talisman attached to it, which was a gift from my first girlfriend, who gave it to me when she returned from one of her travels. I've been looking to buy a replacement backpack of the same kind for almost 5 years now but nobody sells it and the pictures don't even come up online.

My family was more on the side of the robbers...

Oh, when I was a kid I once had my bike stolen. Found it outside a kids house who lived in the same neighborhood.

My family got robbed while we were in Italy. I mean they lost way more valuables than i did. I lost my favorite shirt and the rest were just like a few other clothes i didn't care for, so i wouldn't consider myself being robbed. More my family.

Someone broke into my car and stole the stereo while I was on a hike last week. I locked the door when I left the car like always, but I did crack open the window a tiny bit to let some fresh air get inside n out (it was quite hot that day). I figure with that slight opening the thief was able slip a wire through and pull on the lock to open the door.

Not very upset about it to be honest, that stereo was a piece of junk and didn't work properly, more upset about the act itself. Got a another stereo and dash-kit for 30$ at an auto junkyard so no huge loss on my part. At the very least, I'm grateful the thief didn't break the window or anything.

I had a CD booklet of about 125 CDs that I'd collected over the years that got stolen out of my car a couple years back. It wasn't the worst because I at least had all the music backed up on my computer and I at least still have all the cover art, but I was still bummed about it, since you know, my stuff that I was fond of was gone. I can only hope the person who took it at least expanded their musical horizons, but there were some rare EPs and special editions of my favorite CDs in there, and a couple were gifts from people I care about. On the bright side, it's now super not as big a deal if someone steals the new one since as of right now it's at least half just burned CDs and no rare EPs or anything special.

About 5 years ago, I was leaving a friend's house with a friend. My friend lived pretty close, so we were just walking there. Two guys came out of no where with a gun, and asked us to hand them everything. I just had a crappy phone, so I didn't really lose much. My friend had a backpack full of yugioh cards (few decks, including mine), luckily the robbers didn't take it because we told them they were just simple cards lol .

I have to say that it really affected me though. It was a long time ago, but I still fear going outside at night. Being pointed with a gun and getting robbed sucks.

I haven't been robbed but my house has been burgled and my sweater was stolen. But I did meet my burglar and we had tea together, is this then a case of robbery?

Along time ago when I was 18, they broke out my car window and stole my school backpack and car stereo. I was more angry that I had to redo all of the school work, since insurance took care of the repairs. So depressing doing that report over

Yep, back in early 2001 I think? I remember it was not long after the PS2 was released and they were going for about $500-600 on Ebay since they were in short supply and high demand.

We came home and saw some of our bags outside and thought, "that's odd...". Then we saw the door broken in and the place trashed. They took just about everything. Laundry money, sheets out of our bedroom, steaks out of our freezer, and even ketchup (seriously! wtf!). Our computer was gone as well. Then we got to the living room. The TV was gone obviously, same as our receiver, speakers, DVD player, but then came a shock. There in the middle of the living room was the PS2. ??? The PS2 was on top of the DVD player. Somehow they pulled them out of the entertainment center and took the DVD player (which was at most $200 at the time), but left the PS2. We were devastated of course, but relieved and so very confused at the same time.

I'll just say that losing stuff sucks, especially when you don't have much in the first place. Getting robbed is worse than that though. You feel violated. Someone came into your home and helped themselves. It's scary. I wondered what would have happened if I was home? I didn't feel safe in my own home and uncomfortable having anything valuable until I moved. I became suspicious of people in the neighborhood. It was terrible.

Life tip: Rental insurance is cheap. DO IT!

TLDR: Robbers stole everything, including steaks and ketchup, but left our PS2 in the middle of the floor that was selling for $500+ at the time.

Maybe they were confused and thought it was the end of the world?
