Do you keep your interest in anime a secret?

Such as, in public. You may be talking to a girl, or a group of "buddies" you're trying to fit in with. You know for a fact they don't watch or have any idea what anime is. Therefore, some of society thinks anime is for... "the childish" from what I've been around. To some it's unattractive and confusing. I treat some anime close to my heart. Why you ask? It's an outlet of stress-relief, but many won't understand.

I don't tell too many people I'm somewhat of an avid anime viewer. I don't tell people I watch SaO or Eureka Seven for example, because they'd have no clue, 'nor do I introduce them too it.

What's your take? Do you keep it a secret among yourself and among other anime lovers?

Considering I have quite a few anime based shirts I would have to say no. I see no reason why I should hide anything that I am interested in.

I don't really keep it a secret because there isn't really any reason to keep it a secret. It's not like those people are going to start making fun of me just because I watch anime, but on the other hand I don't really bring up the fact that I watch anime when nobody brings it up. If I did I would only start sounding like a weaboo. Of course, if there is a person I know who watches anime I would love to have some conservations about anime with him/her

I don't keep any secrets.

I don't like living with secrets.

I've met guys who secretly like to crossdress... and in my head i'm just thinking, "how could you live your life with a secret like that?"
If I like something, I'll do it... I don't really worry about someone's approval.

I put it out there just like other shows, movies I watch. Not bothered by others opinions.

Never be afraid to reveal your interest. Even I'm not afraid to reveal it.

I'm open about the fact that I like anime. At the same time I'm not a walking billboard that says, "Hey, look, I'm an otaku."

Ugh. Guilty.

All my friends know my love for anime and anime-associated products. Even on a first meeting with some 'new' friends, they trailed with me as I purchased a novelty body pillow. I thought I was pretty open with the thought.

Then I visited family and relatives living over in Washington state. I never mentioned my hobby once when I was there, and I was there for a month-long-vacation.

I guess until I try to get my dad to love it, a little part of me will remain embarrassed. But as for my friends and strangers around me, I know you're all green with envy watching me stroll with my Crunchyroll shirt on.
