Well I believe I'm Mexican but my great great mother was really white and had blue eyes some of my family say her parent's came from Spain. We aren't sure if its true though so for now I'm fully Mexican !!

Nah.. I get that. The american comment was outside of that and because I know there's probably a lot of people here that have had families stretch pretty far back into the US like mine...

I've met a number of people from Europe, and most of the ones I met have been perplexed by the american habit of claiming to be from a far off land.... And like I said in my first comment, my family's made a biig deal of being "irish"... except we haven't had any family born in ireland for over 300 years..

It's also drawing near to St. Patrick's Day and this is an annual discussion with one of my bosses who's a Dane. (came over about 20-30 years ago. and he's in his 60's :P) about this national habit...

I think part of the case here is because the question is specifically asking about heritage.

Some time ago I had my DNA run through the "National Genographic"program. My genome starts in Africa,(as does everybody's) starts northward when many branches go in various directions; mine heads northwest through Europe.

So no matter where your recent families came from we're all still cousins. Hiya Cuz!

Mostly British, Belgian, German and a sprinkling of Irish that I know about on my mother's side. Probably all European.

Garden variety, other than the fact that I have dual citizenship with England (and now the EU) via my British mother.
