I am really hype about this series. Is the manga good ?

Depends but imo pretty well crafted in general. There are short arcs, slice of life moments, the monster of the week format, and later evolves into a larger story with a major antagonist. There's also good characterization especially for the two main duo - Ushio and Tora.

Nice! I'll have to break out the old VCR and rewatch the original series.

Ayahi Takagaki: Jun Moritsuna

It's definitely confirmed as split seasons now with 2 cour airing from Summer to end of the year. It will be 26 episodes and I also found this part kinda interesting:

The anime's final episode will coincide with the manga's final battle.

Episode 1

Well, it definitely had that nostalgic feeling after seeing the old-school like artwork.

The episode was good. A lot happened already but the most prominent aspect of the series imo would be the chemistry between Ushio and Tora, especially in the second half.

Comedy is nice along with the action. OST is good too. Solid start.

CR will stream this later today but it is 7:30 am every Friday.

I definitely liked that episode. Had an old school feel and sort of a Yu Yu Hakusho meets Inu Yasha vibes. I find Ushio and Tora's interactions to be very amusing. It's like a somewhat antagonistic Calvin and Hobbes.

And finally an op to rock out to this season.

Episode 1: The Fate That Brings Ushio and Tora Together

Love the old school feel. However his nose makes this difficult for me. It just seems so irregular and out of place. But this guy already has a harem for two so he has something going for him.

The mix of action and comedy was pretty good. Tora however needs to work on his negotiation skills. That was hilarious. I wonder if this show will take itself seriously or if it will just be more of a comedic type of thing.

The OP and Ed fit great. That opening sequence seemed to spoil a lot of things but then again it gives me something to look forward to.

Looking forward to more, not a bad first episode, it was quite enjoyable.

Well that was promising. I liked the 90s feel to the art. Those eyebrows.

I typically don't go for constipation-filled transformation scenes, but Ushio's didn't last long and with much less straining than others.

Hmmm... just didn't connect with this one at all. I can't really pick out a specific reason why (beyond what seems to be a trend this season of annoying and unlikable MCs) but it just left me cold. Might give it another week or two to see but in a season where I already have a handful of titles I know I'm going to be watching, this one just doesn't look like it will make the cut.

The 90's vibe are becoming a trend recently, like with Parasyte, which also had a duo. I'm looking forward to this one.

Good first episode, with a mix of action and comedy - it's amusing to see this "terrifying" beast act like a scaredy cat in front of the all-mighty Beast spear!

Ushio's naivety in negotiation was a bit stupid, if I'm honest. The demon made repeated, honest threats to him (which were amusing), but I guess there wasn't any choice, given the situation.

I do have to question why the spear was left in Tora, and why he was kept alive, despite his reputation - perhaps the previous wielder saw some good in Tora, as cliched as that may be? Hopefully this question will be answered later down the road.

Looking forward to how they will bond!

Well this is an interesting series. Good first episode. Good introductions to the characters, showing us their relationships. Some nice humour there as well. Father is a priest with a fondness for travelling and food. Two lady friends, both seemingly interested in him, one Tsundere, the other one. Not so much.

He's also fond of art yet physically capable. So he's got something to him.

And then there's Tora. Demon and really big one at that. Mean.. and not very good at negotation, or keeping promises.

overall the humour was executed nicely i think and helped give us an idea of the characters.

Fighting was also quite nice.

So a nice catch for Crunchyroll there.
