Hey, if you can accept the 90s design of it, this looks to be a lot of fun. Read it is like 39 episodes long, so one to watch from the beginning.

I like that MC is already athletic and has friends of both sexes so he isn't a loser then add a demon and spear should be a good ride with old school animation good formula for success wonder how many episodes before a loli girl shows up?

Episode 1

Pretty good start,

This is very shounen-y (though it is from a shounen manga from the 90s afterall).

Generally dislike shounen anime, but actually liked this so far.

Considering the listed episode count for the series, I would have liked a little more time devoted to build-up...character motivations felt a bit flimsy. But I'm excited to have another retro shounen series to enjoy.

I'm generally not much for shounen anime either.

But, this is the first anime I've ever watched that I would describe as "metal"

I wasn't really expecting to enjoy this show as much as I did. Definitely watching it!

ep 1

Solid episode. Love the old school feel, it's nice to see more manga from the 90's getting anime adaptations.

The first episode was really impressive. I loved the banter between Ushio and his dad and Ushio and Tora. I can't wait for the next episode; I would like to see more interaction between Ushio and his classmates, see how he juggles being a demon slayer with being a student.

And that opening man; haven't seen an unabashedly kick-ass OP like that in a while.

After seeing this, I'm sad I never watched the OVA. This seems like it's going to be the definitive version though.

Episode 2

Badass. That's how I like to describe the episode.

Despite the bickering, I think Ushio and Tora makes a fine team together when they fight. We are following a monster of the week like format for now, something I had expected from the manga.

Episode 2

And so, now Ushio is up against a monster that turns people into stone and eats them up for dinner, and Ushio's friends are two of them. Just when it looked like they wouldn't be able to work together, Tora is motivated by the fact that he can't eat Ushio if someone else kills him. So Ushio goes badass again once the spear comes to him and the rest is history. That was pretty nicely done the fight and stuff, and Tora is quite the funny guy when he's up against the spear.

Well we learn that Ushio is anything but an accomplished artist (yet his two lady friends seem strangely capable of telling what it is) A mysterious statue arrives at the school and almost immediately trouble begins as the library committe vanishes for a single survivor.

Battle breaks out after Ushio beats up Tora sufficiently to get what he wants and a battle with the rock eater as it is identified, begins. Quickly turns ugly though but is saved by Tora partly (motivated by not wanting anyone else to eat ushio) and then by learning that the spear also responds to his will. Then things really heat up as the rock eaters stone samurai armour falls apart and we learn that spit is good vs shapeshifters.

Humour continues to work well. And the action isn't letting up either.

Also seems like the world is now aware that something else is afoot out there. Guess that might have consequences.
