This show makes me happy. Nice to have a supernatural shounen like this again.

Ushi and Tora continue to be a more violent Calvin and Hobbes for me. Their interactions amuse me.

I really want a drawing contest between Ushio and Narsus now.

Oh man. Ushio and Tora teaming up to take down the Rock Eater monster--awesome battle with lots of action! The humor didn't let up either. There seems to be a nice balance between the humor and action so far.

This show is by far shaping up to be one of my favorites in quite awhile. It's got many of the qualities I love in an anime.

I can't wait to see how the interactions between Ushio and Tora evolve throughout the series. Should be great to watch!

Oh, and that opening is awesome. Just sayin.

Sudden urges to breakdance

Another good episode, which continues what it does from episode one.

I did find it amusing that Tora's lightning was effective on the stone samurai (perhaps it's special?), and that Tora did a 180 on the TV, which was repaired by duct tape
Tora confirmed tsundere.

I can see it's going towards monster of the week, which I hope won't bore us out!

Episode 2: Rock Eater

Another fun episode. I see a trend of it being comedy and interactions between Ushio and Tora in the first half and then fighting monsters in the second half, but its only the second episode so we shall see.

Feel like those two ladies are just going to get caught up in all the trouble Ushio and Tora encounter, hopefully they learn the truth soon and become part of the demon killing squad...or not.

The fight was pretty intense and I can see monster of the week for awhile up until the main antagonist shows up. Maybe some training sessions for Ushio to get better with the spear.

Enjoyed the episode, will continue watching.

One thing that annoys me in this anime is that EVERYBODY KEEPS YELLING !!!!

well Its still interesting no matter what, I will continue as well.

The seiyuu for Ushio is Hatanak Tasuku , seems to be a newbie and he actually sounded like Namikawa Daisuke.

It's nice seeing something from the 90's being remade, I have never seen this series but I can tell that this is going to be great! The animation quality is top notch, as expected from MAPPA, which was founded by the founder of Madhouse! Shounens like these take me back.

Episode 3

Lol, Tora's dad is funny.

I found the episode kinda interesting especially with a character like Reiko introduced. Not exactly known for her reputation though. Not exactly having a good reputation though. It seems like her father was the painter that died...that's sad.

Episode felt kinda fast but still good. Tora never ceases to surprise me either when it comes to dealing with demons and spirits.

Episode 3

Now, it's a story about a model who brings nothing but misfortune to those she befriends, and Reiko wants to put an end to all her misery by killing herself and submitting to father. But of course Ushio won't let that happen as his father became possessed, and thus he goes into the painting to free him. And that spear only works on beasts, so Reiko was unaffected by it. That's a pretty good episode there, but still not enough to convince me to want to watch more of this. I don't know if I'll watch any more of this or not at the moment, but it's not looking good.

Well dad is back.. And dad is horribly shocked once he sees the state of the storage.

But the episode was more about Ushio's artistic pursuits as we learns of his favorite painter and his daughter. The favorite painter having died having been betrayed by his wife and a student growing into a darkly obsessed man. .and eventually a demon. And a very posessive on at that.

it falls upon Ushio to resolve the situation and get a model for his paintings. He succeeds in the end though Tora has to save him again

We also learn that the spear can only hurt beasts. Had me thinking for a moment there though that he had killed the poor girl.

But a neat little episode with some fun moments.

Hmm, is it normal to paint your daughter in the nude? Ushio took a particular fancy to it
The way Reiko landed on that spear was weird - it should have been painful? And the boys made it in lightning time to save her, but hey, it's anime!

Quite a fast (but nice) episode that revealed a tiny bit more about the spear vs humans.

I like the painting of the daughter at the end after demon is put to rest. I see theme on every episode Tora get pissed he might miss his meal and saves Ushio every time- funny when Ushio transforms in front of couple students he is able to make them forget the dude with long hair?

Episode 3: The Demon That Dwells In The Painting

I was kind of scared for a second that the painting was gonna start moving when they did a close up on the face. I was nervous. But the after painting was much nicer and less creepy.

Wonder if we will see more of Reiko now and she is gonna be a character that shows up from time to time to help out with the demon stuff. I hope so, she seemed kind of depressing at first but she has a nice smile.

Tora is too funny, but in a way he cares about Ushio. Even if he threatens to kill him one day, it will come to a point where he won't be able to anymore because of the bonds he built with him.

Nice episode, looking forward to see if a bigger antagonist will appear or if we still need to introduce more characters and deal with one episode cases.

Episode 3

That is the face I make when I see someone trip over something, lol.

I'm loving the supernatural and old 90's Shonen vibes from this series, so i'll keep watching! :)

That was a good episode. Kept up the humor from previous episodes while also being somewhat dark as well. That would have been very tragic if the spear did harm humans. Ushio lucked out there.

I like that Ushio has this passion for art. Fighting isn't something he cares a lot about, it's just something he happens to be decent at...or calls upon himself because he can't leave things alone. I know this is an older manga, but it's sort of nice to have a shounen protagonist in a show like this whose passion isn't fighting. Liking art goes against the stereotype you might try to fit him with given his appearance and the show.
Still want a paint off between him and Narsus.

And Ushio doesn't do a particularly good job of hiding his superpowers. It'll probably be an open secret before too long.
