Well...I do it frequently, specifically when my dad says racist comments to people he doesn't know or believes he is right on every statement about them
I mean nobody is perfect in this world, everybody cannot be perfect
I know I shouldn't talk about my dad like this, but It is something that bothers me a lot
To be honest I can't stand racism, I like to share experiences with everybody and accept how they are.

I have some family members that would probably classify as racist...they may not admit it. I just choose not to say anything, I just shake my head and say okay. The ones I'm referring to are the ones that you probably couldn't tell nothing to. I love my family, but yeah some of the stuff they say does bother me.

I kind of grew up without racism being a problem. The only racism that's in my family is racism against the mainland Chinese (which I can't really comment on as I've never actually lived in Hong Kong unlike my mum's side of the family) and racism against white people - both of which don't extend much outside of general prejudice. As far as I see, the white stuff is generally just a joke (we live in Scotland and we very much like the people here - especially as I'm actually mixed race along with everybody else in this generation of my family) and the mainland Chinese stuff is stuff I blame their government for so I really don't have an opinion on it.

I used to but I've given up on it. My dad is too close-minded to even comprehend what I'm talking about when I tell him he's being racist. And living in AZ doesn't help. I've also tried to explain to him multiple times why his stupid joke about Japanese accents and the words pirate/pilot is not funny and is rude/offensive. At this point I'm pretty much done trying with him. He thinks that because I'm only 20 I "don't know what I'm talking about" and can't possibly have any sort of knowledge whatsoever, even though I have more life experience than him despite the giant age difference.

Yup. All the time. With some of my aunts/uncles also. I don't argue much with them though. I just shake my head and say it's wrong and move on.

Both of my parents are racist towards people who aren't Chinese. It is disgusting. I'm glad there are stories on the news showing people experiencing the consequences of doing racist things. It villainizes racist people enough to remind my parents to watch what they say......temporarily. Now they only make racist comments when they think it's "protecting me". If I get angry at them they reply with "how can you be so ungrateful, I care about you??? don't you know I carry a cattle on my back hiking up in the mountains??" it's so twisted how they turn things around.

Nope, they are adults they can take responsibility for themselves. I'll leave call out culture to the Tumblr pin heads.

My mom is black, and is racist towards everybody who isn't black, no matter what she says.

She wants to promote equality around black people, but she's doing it the same way third wave tumblr feminists are doing it around women. Focusing on the wrong things.

I can never understand why people just can't be people. Everybody has to have a label for some reason.

Yeah, sadly my parents can be racist against some that I won't even mention. I always argue back that they shouldn't though

My dad and stepmother are a strange case. They acknowledge that racism exists, but it is damn near impossible for them to acknowledge actual racist incidents if minorities are offended, but they seem to believe white people are being persecuted.

Not so much with my parents but with my brother. He is highly racist and very open about it. He was subjugated to a lot of racism as a child due to being a half cast and having dark skin. In saying that, he doesn't disrespect any person to their face but he cannot bring himself to like them. You try to explain to him you should only hate the person and not the race but he tends to already hate everyone and refuses to accept that not all people are terrible.

I get into it with my father about his Islamophobia all the time. Finally forced him to read my 14 page paper on Islamophobia in the media that won conference in the category of rhetorical criticism with an ideological criticism.....he still argued with it. I came unglued & mom had to stop us because I was belittling his character by constantly calling him a bigot every other sentence. Ahhhh good times.

I hate people who live up to stereotypes more than I hate racists.
