Forget that. This afternoon, after getting off the car at the Wal-Mart's parking lot, one girl together with two guys suddenly called my mom "Ching Chong." My mom did not know she was being degraded by words, but I was there.

In quick response, I called them "racist Jews" repeatedly.

Swear to god, I was close enough to start a brawl. They can't disrespect my mom like that.

The best thing to do in those situations is simply ignore them. I can't even begin to count the number of slurs I've had thrown at me due to my race. I've learned, while it does take more will power, I felt better ignoring people like them because stooping to their level is far too easy.

Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself. You can't just let anyone push you around, especially when your loved one is being disrespected.

I do understand the whole "You can't just let anyone push you around" thing, I just feel it's better to avoid any unnecessary confrontations. To each his own, though.

Not at all and I'm very thankful for that.

I don't. But, that's because I don't really see racism in my parents. Being that my parents were particular in adopting overseas after the first three of us were born & I have 5 younger adopted siblings which include 1 of Roma/Gypsy descent, 2 of "White Russian" descent, one of Asian descent (Kazakhstan), and one Latina (El Salvador)...I don't see racism there. Maybe it's me.

I've encountered my dad doing it a few times but I've never said anything. If he can make it to that age and still believe racism is acceptable, nothing I have to say is going to change his mind.

My mother is pretty racist along with my brothers, as I've been getting old I've been telling them how I hate it, so we can it too a few arguments about it, its just one more thing I hate about this world. Racism....

Thankfully, that's not an issue in my family.

Usually not. I never really talk to my dad about race that much, and my mom and I have pretty similar ideals when it comes to race. However, one day my mom will just be bashing white people for everything, saying stuff like, "Look at that white guy, he's so scrawny" or "That white lady has no lips" and I'm just sitting there like "Geez, what is your problem?" I mean, the other day she insisted she come into my room and start watching Kuroko's Basketball with me, and out of the blue she said "They're all so scrawny." I kind of just glared at her and said "Please, just watch the show." I mean, seriously, what's the point?

I will throw in my two cents. Racist comments are usually heard mostly on news stations on people they bring in claiming something is racist and so the most of what I say with my parents are "Well we got another racist screaming racist on the news on something irreverent again".
