Look at the statistics, Steins;Gate is statistically tied for number one anime of all time with Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

You are not alone. Hundreds of thousands of other people agree with you.

If you like Steins;Gate you should watch Chaos;Head (The prequel linearly) and Robotics;Notes (The sequel linearly).

Steins;Gate is very well written. It takes a very overused trope and makes it fresh and intriguing. It's not about blood pumping action. It's meant to make the viewer think. It has a lot of important lessons to be gleaned from it. I personally think that this series deserves all the praise it gets and deserves to be considered one of the best and most satisfying animes created. There are certainly better animes out there, but this one is fantastic for sure.

I'm just watching this for the 4th time. This anime came out the year I discovered anime - 2011. That must have been one of the best years for anime to come along for a while. I don't think Stein's Gate won any awards at all but I'm not really savvy on this. Anyone know? Aside from Attack on Titan, I don't know what other anime came out that could compete for becoming a classic that year.

Am I biased? Is it not as good as I remember?

If you love Steins;Gate, you should consider playing the Visual Novel. It has an official English translation but keeps the Japanese voice actors (the ones in the VN are the same as the ones from the subbed anime), has multiple alternative endings, and has even more content-wise than the anime. The soundtrack is fantastic, there is an otaku term dictionary that is hilarious, and you get even more character development, especially with Okabe's internal dialogue

It's available in the States, idk about other English speaking countries, but it's a true masterpiece and worth ordering online. There are quite a few providers who sell it too.

And the original Artwork is beautiful

The below is a spoiler from the Visual Novel, but if you've seen the entire anime series, it's not a spoiler to you.

Here's a few guides if you decide to embark on the VN's journey; you'll need it to get all the true ending flags and navigate the game since you don't make "choices" like in usual Visual Novels, but rather you respond to texts by clicking highlighted words, which can influence the ending. I'd cross-reference these guides.

Yes I second the recommendation for the visual novel. Furthermore, there is this one scene in particular in the visual novel that really was awesome and I was surprised they took it out of the anime.

Plus the alternative endings are neat and the art work is phenomenal.

Honestly, I heard pretty bad things about the Choas;Head anime. I opted to read the visual novel instead and I enjoyed the visual novel quite a bit (though I did like S;G more). Plus I heard the C;H anime doesn't really allude to the connections between S;G and C;H like the visual novels do.

I finished Steins Gate a little over two weeks ago. I personally enjoyed it, and recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it. Whether or not people liked S;G, It's definitely a anime you should have on your "to watch" list.

Well of course Chaos;Head isnt going to allude to the others, its the first =P

But the nozomi group and the commitiee of 300 are in Robotics;Notes. And Takumi is mentioned in both S;G and R;N.

Honestly there is tons of connections, you just have to look for them.

But i like Chaos;Head the anime. Visual Novels tend to bore me and ide rather watch a snazzy animation. But C;H is told so well, i rememeber not knowing what was real or not for so long while watching it the first time. For a show to make even the viewer unsure is just great story telling.

I'm probably one of the few people who really loved the first half of the anime, the way they built-up the John Titor mystery combined with the light-hearted comedy was extremely entertaining. Steins;Gate is a fantastic anime, is it really deserving of the 2nd highest ranking anime on MAL? That's really all down to your own perspective. It's definitely one of my favourite anime, definitely in my top 10.

I must also command the dub. It makes a point of not trying to mimic the japanese version and standing on its own.

If you don't watch the sub then you will miss out on this scene which is perhaps one of the most ridiculous in all of anime. Besides that, the dub is pretty strong but I would never recommend it over the sub.

Well Steins Gate is pretty mediocre actually, Idk why people like it so much. They look like a bunch of teenagers on acid yelling "Tuturuu" and listening to cicadas. Did SERN even appear? no there was no villain, no bad guy, just a bunch of crackheads making mistakes and then later trying to fix it. No point of all the mention of John Titor, or an evil organization if they didnt even appear.

Attack on Titan > Steins; Gate

Attack on Titan and Steins;Gate are two completely different types of stories. Comparing them is idiotic. Also, it sounds like you weren't paying attention to what actually happened in Steins;Gate so you're not really a fit judge.

I don't see why it is idiotic to compare them.

Yeah there alot of connections, but I am saying the animes doesn't quite show all the connections as much(Robotic;Notes aside). For example, I don't think the Steins;Gate anime ever goes to the fact that the technology used to create the Artificial Giglomaniacs is the very same technology that helped Kurisu make the Time Leap machine.

As for visual novels, sure they lack animation (openings aside, and in the case of the S;G anime they have the animated lips), but they do offer visuals, music, cg images, voice acting ,etc and combined with an engaging first person narrative. So its somewhat like an interactive anime in a way.

Plus there are just some scenes in the vn that's not shown in the anime that's cool. I am legit suprised that they didn't include this scene in the anime :
