It's pretty much the Back To The Future 2 of anime. Aside from the absurd gender swap plotline and the pointless Faris character, I found it to be an amazingly well done series. Easily one of, if not the most interesting time travel stories I've ever seen. I'd even go so far as to call it a masterpiece. It has a lot to offer- comedy, sci fi romance, drama, tragedy, moe, action. The huge tone change halfway through that keeps the audience on their toes, and that crazy climax was just awesome. From episode 12 and on I was just glued to my tv while watching.

It's one of those cases where even years later its still hard to ever call it over rated. The rating seems pretty justified, really.

Steins;Gate is by far my favorite anime. I've even started collecting things around the franchise. I got most of the games, all of the nendoroid figures, the stage play version and more. I've only watched the series twice and I look forward to seeing it again sometime in the future when timing is right.

I just bought the series on DVD so my daughter could watch it. Love this show. It was a really masterful SF thriller, in my opinion. Much better than ANY other SF movie or tv show made over here in the west.

Its up there with Ghost in the Shell franchise for me. I absolutely love it for using mutli-dimension time travel theory (my preferred concept over singular dimension theory). Add to it that I liked all of the characters, except Moeka who the best she could gain was being neutral, and I especially love the relationship built between Kurisu and Okabe
. It made me actually feel for the characters as the story progressed. Imo it definitely should be held highly.
