Your View On School Censorship?
Posted 2/5/15
Yet in College you can wear whatever the hell you want (Pretty much). Yes I can understand why secondary schools have dress codes, but to me, it isn't a big deal.

Well that's normal for me and others in the UK. Most schools in the UK use uniforms. All schools in the Caribbean use uniforms plus they can have strict regulations on hair and types of shoes. Heck they used to measure our skirts to ensure they were exactly 2 inches below the knee, any thing shorter and you'd be in trouble. I never saw this as censorship. I'd call it a heavy/regulated dress code.

What I find annoying is when a school tries to re-brand itself and changes the school uniform requiring all the pupils to change and heavily penalising pupils for not buying a uniform from their specific shop which cost more than a generic shop.

As someone who has to wear a uniform almost all previous dress code rules need not apply anymore, since we're all forced to look like cat Catolic schoolboys ever day except Fridays. Some girls get away with wearing legging khaki crap though. If their butt's flat enough no one ever complains that they're not wearing actual khakis. As for guys, well, they have to wear belts, all the time now.

I actually love uniform since I don't have to think of what to wear everyday.

It's dumb.
The high school that I went to was pretty lenient on the dress code... for guys. But for girls, especially during spring semester where it gets hot nearing towards summer. Since I remember a few girls in my class would just wear tank tops, the ones that are like half inch straps. And to cover themselves, just some Hollister zip up hoodie or similar to it.

But I don't care much anymore since I'm passed that stage of education were the principal would call you in for inappropriate clothing.

In my opinion I think every public school and private school should have uniforms. I honestly just think its the best and most logical step for schools. It would have to be every grade level that has them so by the time people actually cared how they looked it didn't even matter anymore.

I personally think that Dress Codes are a good thing. I think as long as the leave some kind of variation and doesn't make everything completely black and white then uniforms can be a good thing. I think the younger kids are when they get a dress code the better it will be for them in the future (i,e, if you get into high school without ever having a dress code you are more likely to rebel against it). Having lived in Brazil and seen the uniforms they use there I can confirm that there are some awesome uniforms that can be used in school.

I believe that if you are "dressed for success" you will be more successful...then again I have an old school soul lol

I kind of liked the dress code back in high school (except for the tie).
The girls uniform was simple but cute. Good old days.

I like it to a point. I also like school uniforms

Yes, I see kids bringing school uniforms down upon them. While yes, censorship is oppressive when it gets implimented without just cause.

private schools however are privately owned and if parents and/or students don't like their policies regarding dress code they need to let it be known to the proper authorities or try to change schools, public even moreso.

However, it should be used as a last resort, schools are meant for learning subjects in classes, not for gangs and/or walking on the runway, cause and effect.

Dear Lord Jesus Christ.

So my school has uniforms and I'm completely fine with that. BUT
my demon principal (despite it being a catholic school) changed hella stuff.

Now we're not allowed to wear jackets outside of uniform during class. Not even our uniform jackets. So if it was a super cold, rainy day, and I wanted to wear my Northface jacket to keep me alive during class, NOPE. Gotta take it off.

Back then we could wear any shoe of any color (of course not the obvious like heels). Now we're only allowed to wear black shoes. We're not even allowed to wear black shoes with like a white logo. Just straight up black. Same with socks--only black or white w/ no logo. No gray no red no ANYTHING. And our school colors are white and red. Damn.

Okay, now let's talk about free dress days. It's once a month when you can be out of uniform.

Before, you can wear whatever the hell you want. BUT NOW,

- no skinny jeans
- no basketball shorts
- no flats
- no showing shoulders
- no leggings
- no sweats
- no boots
- no skirts 2" above your knee
- no shorts of any kind
- no tank tops of any kind (unless worn under something)
- no crop tops even with a tank underneath
- no shorts with leggings
- nothing tight or skinny in general
- must wear a belt if wearing pants

Like, our only options left was a T-shirt and freakin' bell bottoms tf.

I don't even remember the rest man. too many to remember.

thank God I'm graduating this year. outta this butthole at last.
