Watching the gay scenes in the tv series How to Get Away With Murder is much more intense and hot compared to reading a yaoi. Must be the background music. I'm like, "oh la la."

I'm gay and I can't stand yaoi. I find it boring, and I don't get why girls like it so much. It is the same freaking storyline EVERY DAMN TIME. The seme (I think that's what the dominant one is called) is all over the uke, and the uke doesn't think he's gay. Or the other way around. I'd like to see a better storyline sometime.

P.S. Yes, I do know that SOME yaoi's don't have that storyline, but most do.

P.S.S. YURI OVER YAOI

I've only seen two yaoi anime, Junjou Romantica and Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi. Being Gay myself, I like the idea of yaoi but I didn't really like the shows. The relationships always seemed one sided, with one character forcing himself on the other until the other one gives in towards the end of the series. I guess that's the nature of the whole "seme and uke" thing, but I'd like to see the relationships be a little more reciprocal.

Yuri is usually cutesy, whereas yaoi often comes across a little rapey. So I tend to steer clear. I don't really like much yuri either though. Has to be pretty darn moe and cgdct to get me to watch.

if you noticed, the human race is the only species in the world that are homosexual, you don't see animals being homosexual do you. The point is men are generally supposed to like women and vice versa. I respect other people's sexual orientation, and i sure do believe that love will overcome everything, even society's norms. So if you like men, and you are a guy, just go for it. If you are straight, go for it. And if you are a woman, and you are a woman, just go for it, but the real question is: why hat yuri

thats not totally true ive seen 2 male cats get it on with eatch other when i was younger that being said i neither like or hate yoai

but back to the quetion at hand i agree with this person reguardless of your sexual orintention just go for it don't give a F**** about what others say there will allways be haters there to hate about something or another

Honestly...

Does anyone hate on yaoi. I think most people just don't watch it cause they're not into watching gay romance. I don't really think yaoi is hated at all

I mean, unless a person assumes that yaoi is poorly written. But maybe it is... I don't watch it, therefore I can't make judgments of it's quality.

I see people do that with yuri. People would watch one that sucks and say, "Yuri is poorly written trash" and ignore the existence of shows like Revolutionary Girl Utena, or Devil Lady which were masterpieces. And it's fine to not like yuri, I would never see a yaoi, but don't act like you know something about it if you haven't seen a good amount of it.

But I guess there are people who pointlessly hate on things that weren't made for them.
People who don't watch shows with lesbians, but claims they're all bad even though they refuse to see them.

Or it's possible yaoi really does suck ass... both figuratively and literally.
But to make that claim, I'd have to see one, and I don't plan to.

someone said it earlier...its about empathy. whatever the emotion is that the writer is trying to evoke...the whole idea is lost on someone who cannot relate to the character(s). this is especially true in a romance story.

nothing to do with anime, really. nothing to do with homophobia. Its the same "oh, thats nice (cute)" feeling the OP got when he sees a hetero couple. Apathy is the emotion least likely to evoke action or response.

Actually a lot of species do it besides humans .Cats , dogs , primates , horses , etc. It reminds me of the scene in the movie with Adam Sandler played the gay fireman to help his friend Kevin James....can't remember the name right now . Anyways , James' daughter gave a little speech how it was perfectly normal in the animal kingdom . Do I hate Yaoi ? No . Will I watch it ? Hell No ! But if you want to go ahead ! I'll prefer Yuri myself .

Would you believe there was a time when yaoi would make me cringe and groan if I saw it or it happened.
It's amazing what happens when you date girls who like yaoi. You may even discover something about your own sexuality.
That being said I'm still not ok with fan pairings that only exist in the fantasies of delusional teenage girls like Sasuke/Naruto.

Because gay guys in anime only appeal to younger women and we boys do not enjoy seeing 2 males kissing or flirting with each other.

It just doesn't interest me at all really. I'm a straight male and seeing a show focused entirely around a gay couple just isn't something I want to see quite frankly. Call it homophobic or whatever, but I just don't feel too comfortable watching it, I guess you could say. I get how you can take a step back and just look at the love itself, which I'd say power to ya, but I cannot do the same.

It's something I'm not interested in sexually or emotionally, so it just doesn't compel me to stick with it and I feel weird while watching it. Probably has to do with pride and ego, but I just don't like it.

That's fine if you're gay and you like yaoi, everyone has different preferences. I'm sure as hell am not going to denounce the genre just because it has gay men in it doing gay things, I just personally do not like it and have no attachment to it sexually or emotionally.

Call me a hypocrite because I enjoy yuri/lesbian relationships, but I'm a guy, I like girls. And I like girls going for girls because I find it hot and sexy. That's the bottom line. It just goes against my psyche when seeing males going for males, I just don't enjoy it because I'm not even remotely interested.

Now, if there's gay relationships in a show that's not centered around the gay relationship? Then count me in. Shinsekai yori, for example, was great and the gay relationships in that were used very well. I won't turn off an anime when I see two males kissing, but I'm not going to watch a show centered around that relationship because I'd just feel uncomfortable. It's not something I'm used to and or into, so I'm going to turn a blind eye and ignore it.

Some people can detach themselves and watch anything, but people have limits and yaoi is one of them for me. That's fantastic if anyone likes it, but keep me out of it please and criticize me for not liking it either (I'm not referring to you, I'm just generalizing here).

People should be more open minded and learn to accept other people and other things, but people have different sets or morals, standards, and boundaries so not everyone can enjoy or accept the same things. What it comes down to is accepting each other's differences and preferences and live life accordingly.

That's all there is to it.
