I was wondering where people buy their manga and anime related items besides ebay and amazon. Things like sound tracks or character related items. With out having to pay out the nose for them or try and catch them at a convention. Preferably that are reputable.

Music from CdJapan.

Figures and collectibles from AmiAmi.

I have only good experiences from these two, and highly recommend them. There's also Hobby Search, i use them a lot as well.

I don't buy much stuff, but RightStuf, and CD Japan are places I've made purchases. I've purchased digital manga at Amazon and Viz.

BTW, moving this to the Advice, Info, Recommendations forum.

I hope you'll be as pleased as me, if you decide to use it. I've bought at least half of my soundtrack CD's from CdJapan, and i definitely plan on buying more.

I try to buy from - and support - local comic shops & book stores as much as possible. We actually have a few good stores here in the middle of nowhere (Fairbanks, Alaska). My secondary choice would be a local chain store (Barnes & Noble), while ordering online is my last option due to high shipping charges to where I live.

I use cdjapan (Neowing) for Japanese releases especially for music and some figures because it's cheaper to import myself than to go through a middle man who will throw charges at me. Good Smile Company for some of their figure lines and Amazon for UK anime and manga releases.

Ebay i use sometimes for idol merch but mostly i avoid it because it's overpriced and for figures it's like 99% fakes so not worth the risk. Yahoo Auctions Japan i use for very specific things like idol merch and Japanese autographs, wrestling merch that can't be found anywhere else. You need to use a proxy company to use that one since you need a Japanese credit card and address to sign up so it's kind of expensive it's something i'll only use for very specialist buys.
