Forget that. This afternoon (edit: Feb 2), after getting off the car at the Wal-Mart's parking lot, one girl together with two guys suddenly called my mom "Ching Chong." My mom did not know she was being degraded by words, but I was there.

In quick response, I called them "racist Jews" repeatedly.

Swear to god, I was close enough to start a brawl. They can't disrespect my mom like that.

How would you feel if they said that about your dad? If he's even in your life. Would you feel as strongly? Or less strongly to come to his defense?

APD or Sociopaths are all criminals. I, along with numerous others, function just fine; most of us at a far higher level than normal people.

I think I can fit the molds just fine, so I don't really care or mind. Doesn't bother me. Most of the time, I find it quite easy and useful to use such stereotypes to my advantage because people are easy to manipulate when they're that stupid.

Remember, there are high-functioning sociopaths that are highly intelligent, and successful. These have been documented by criminologists profiling high-profile murders. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Bundy‎

Just stating they exist not that you are one. , and that functioning isn't a factor in sociopathy, as clearly indicated by law school student Ted Bundy.Don't take a comment not aimed at you personal, just was observing functioning isn't the defining factor is all.

I tend to ignore stereotypes and racism due to no longer caring what people do anymore. I just focus on me and block the nonsense out.

I think anyone who has half a brain is aware that people with APD have a higher chance for crime/unlawful behavior; & you OBVIOUSLY know nothing about diagnosing someone with APD. The fact that you receive a diagnosis means that the disorder has hindered your functionality in some sort of way, typically work and socially, as REQUIRED by the DSM V. (typically seen in correlation to the unlawful behavior)

You are also mistaken in your use of sociopath for Ted Bundy - as his demeanor categorizes him as a psychopath, not a sociopath. The DSM V distinguishes these two under APD with different characteristics. Maybe you should actually know what you're talking about before you post something? - Although I will grant you that it is still a heavily debated topic as to the distinguishing traits, therefore I wouldn't expect someone who doesn't study these things to be aware.

MY POINT is that NOT everyone with APD meets that criteria & can control the more irrational impulses that often come into our minds. Your semantic use of functionality is wrong, plain and simple. Stop furthering the stereotype that I was putting to rest. I would certainly not call Ted Bundy functional, unless murdering people is functional to you? - Or I would hardly call murdering others as living life in a well suited manner.

I have done quite a lot of things since the time I was little that others would find disturbing, and it took some time for me to develop my ability to control certain desires & impulses; so I don't enjoy having someone who clearly has no formal education on the subject post Ted Bundy as the example of functionality for APD when the man obviously had no functionality in life thus the serial killings.

Understand sweetie?

Stereotypes come up because of common perceptions of specific attributes people have of eachother. The sad part is these perceptions are usually based on watching the more vocal members of a group and therefore their actions are associated with anyone that looks like them.

In some cases stereotypes are painfully true. In other cases they are just uneducated morons making up something stupid. I think what the OP endured was the latter.

since i'm a lesbian i get the classic stereotypes

"why do you have short hair/dress in androgynous clothes? are you experimenting?" "you're too pretty to be a lesbian" "you have to look like a d*ke"

basically i dress in pretty neutral street clothes but i do have feminine flare. i love my winged eyeliner and cute glasses and wavy-curly hair just above my shoulders, but apparently i'm 'too feminine' to be a lesbian.

it's annoying as hell. either you're too feminine, or not feminine enough to be a lesbian and you have to explain and defend your own identity to every nosy ass person

then there's the whole "you must hate men" thing. omg what?? what even... what? it's not like i don't find some men physically attractive bc you'd have to be blind to not appreciate just generally good looking people. i'm not repulsed by dicks either..

i just don't feel that romantic spark with guys or that craving for romance or anything really... i'm not interested in dating/being with men. girls are what make me blush and give me butterflies and make it hard for me to breathe

Please stop being so condescending and get off your high horse, it's annoying. I've met smarter, and they don't need to assertively brag and flaunt their achievement. When you do that, it seems like pretentious drivel and nobody believes you're anything but an obnoxious, narcissistic troll just LOOKING to be put in his or her place.

The point is moot, as there ARE high-FUNCTIONING PSYCHOpaths. DSM is an American text, so global definitions may vary.

Always so entertaining. The insults... as though they actually matter.

@Shishiku - *high fives* I'd hug you, but that might be weird.

I frankly don't like stereotypes, since all they serve to do is piss many off, and make a few laugh at the expense of others. Simply ignoring them is doing nothing to solve the root of the problem. I can't stand it when people refer to black people with the term "nigga". It's a derogatory term that was popularized online, and it needs to stop.
