With sites like crunchyroll, and also the free anime host sites out there, would any of you purchase anime? Previously watched or new to you?

Crunchyroll gives us a way to give back to the anime industry by signing up and supporting it with $7 a month from each of us. But even with crunchyroll, do you go out of your way to buy manga hard copies or anime dvd's, posters, shirts, etc?

If you do, how much do you spend and whats the criteria for something to be 'hard copy worthy' for you?

As for me, I've probably spent around $4000 in the last 3 years on anime stuff. From just dvd's to manga (every single one piece book), to posters, shirts, figures, the list goes on. I do it to support the industry, to keep a hard copy of the books/dvd's in case they get removed offline somehow(highly unlikely), and also because I can and want to.

If you have a bunch of cool stuff, feel free to post pictures and show off your collections.

I continue to purchase anime releases for series that I've found to be enjoyable (if I'd rate it 8 or higher on a 1-10 scale it's eligible). I've yet to see an online stream top a good Bluray release. However, I no longer purchase DVD releases because they are inferior to the online streams.

I'll have to get a list of my collection, but I'm not anywhere near the $4000 mark. I only purchase Bluray releases (and the occasional DVD if Bluray is never made available).

I've saved a lot of money on amazon. Their used hard copies sold are usually in great condition and the return policy is really good should it not come as described. Always look at the sellers stars. I usually try for used copies before I get a new one. There are some good prices and sales. I've saved hundreds doing it this way.

I only buy the good stuff on Bluray. I don't bother with DvDs, don't know why people still buy them lol. They are 480p and low quality, streams are better in every way. However streams ain't quite as good as Blurays picture and sound wise, plus the Bluray normally comes with features etc. So to anyone out there thinking of buying DvDs, don't.

As a person who do not buy constantly I would buy only if the limitation is good, example kickstarter anime Blu Rays, or very rare blu rays of HD remasters of 1980 or 1990 series.

Exactly.

The only DVD's I have are Texhnolyze and Ergo Proxy. The rest are combos.

Oh, absolutely. I buy anything I want to watch more than a couple of times, or want the bonuses that come with boxed sets (occasionally I end up buying re-releases for that reason).

I still kick myself for not picking up the Samurai Troopers / Ronin Warriors boxed set when it came out several years back when I was trying to cut down on purchases a bit. Bad idea, that thing is crazy expensive now...

I support the anime industry by buying figurines. I want to buy DVDs of a few animes, but they are super expensive!!

I like to buy anime on DVD or Blu-Ray, but I do prefer Blu-ray. I also like to buy figures, but I haven't bought any lately. I have bought more Nendoroids. This is a picture I sent to Rightstuf for the Yeti. ^_^

Nice link.
I think all of those are available on CR though, but if you like em all that much then good for you :)

I bought a lot of stuff before I registered on CR, and so now my spending has been cut considerably. But as stuff, like one piece dvd's, get cheaper with time I will buy them. Looking out for Code Geass/Lucky Star deals on amazon too all the time. xP It was $100 for a CG box set before, and I missed that deal now its at $250 and Lucky star is at $200. Eventually I'll buy them both, probably when I get my tax return back or if they go on a sale again and I'm there to catch it :)

Bought a lot of anime shirts off redbubble, I wear a lot of them but not all of them now Still nice to look at though at least x)
Limited space atm, so all my current figures have to go in the closet Once I get to a better place I'll be able to get more and display them right.

FUNimation license rescued both Code Geass and Lucky Star. I'd expect FUNi to release them both on DVD and blu-ray sometime in the next year or so. You will save hundreds of dollars if you wait for them over the OOP Bandai releases, and the quality will be better with blu-ray too.
