For Anime

I owned Fate/Zero, Madoka, Madoka movies, Steins;Gate, Accel World, Fate/Stay Night (2006), Fate/Kalied, Evangelion remakes, and Naruto movies.

So yeah, my collection is very small but it's worth a lot because of Aniplex prices. I used to own SAO and Blast of Tempest, but I sold both of those to get some money.

I only buy anime that I really like.

For my top favorite, I buy both the blu-ray and DVD to support the shows like Accel World and Fate/Zero.

For 2014, I will probably get Chaika, SAO II, Fate/Stay Night (2014), and the Fruit of Grisaia. I'm 50/50 on Aldnoah.Zero and WIXOSS. I enjoy both of them but both are bad shows that I question if I want to spend money on them.

The only DVD's I have are Texhnolyze and Ergo Proxy. The rest are combos.

I think I'll get Texhnolyze if I can find it

I buy boxsets of the shows I enjoy the most. Unfortunately some sets are overpriced like Big O, Wolfs rain, and Kara no kyoukai.

It should be available in Amazon.

Never. It's too expensive here and not to mention limited. I bought some manga but same story. Guess you could order online but it adds up quick.

Looking back, I use to buy a lot of anime both used and new. Now, I pay for subscription websites as I found myself not benefiting much from owning the content since I barely re-watch them.

Space is becoming an issue so that's also another factor over why I don't tend to buy anime if I can help it. Unfortunately, not all anime is available on stream so I'm left with buying them in the end. I guess I'm more selective on which ones I really want to own personally nowadays.

"With sites like crunchyroll, and also the free anime host sites out there, would any of you purchase anime? Previously watched or new to you?"

Absolutely. I will take native 1080p, uncompressed audio blu ray discs over streaming any day. Streaming is just unreliable (At least in America). However, Crunchyroll is the only good streaming service that has One Piece episodes in 1080p, so I can't complain.

Yea sometimes I buy DVDs of a recently released show to support it and increase the chances of another season if it left off on a cliffhanger

Ive just started my collection myself. Only get Blue ray copies since i love admiring the art of my favorites in 1080p plus streaming is annoying with my favorites so i re-watch them with no interruptions (if internet is buggy that day or something) I only purchase my favorites or ones i think are worthy of my money. So far my collection goes as follows: Toradora collecters edition (by far favorite anime ever) Engaged to the unidentified, Love Lab, Tari Tari, Pet Girl, and okami san and her seven companions. However i have a huge problem in deciding either to watch the anime i purchased or to find new ones on crunchyroll -_- The struggle is real.....

I would still buy anime in physical form. I want the anime in my collection forever, if Crunchyroll and Netflix take off of the anime from their sites then there's no way I can watch it for free unless it's a fan sub. Just wait for the prices to drop, cause spending $60 on a 12/13 episode anime is kind of ridiculous.

Occasionally I'll buy the discs for a favorite series if it's not available online (Shinrei Tantei Yakumo), or as backup in case it stops being available. Most of my purchases are for the DVD/Blu-ray for anime musicals, since they aren't really available otherwise.
