Episode 2

Hinami made it big thanks to the zaitaku, and now the same is about to happen with Mariko seeing that the manager of a small agency is taking her on. Publicity continues to be the big thing going on. Well, after an eight minute first episode, it looks like it's down to half its length from hereon out as this episode is only four minutes long. The animation continues to just be terrible, but the concept is at least something that works for shows of this length.

I'm not liking this show much. 4 minutes each and hardly anything happening with shit tier animation quality and terrible storytelling. I'm hoping it can at least throw in some catchy songs soon..

The short running time really works against this show as we have 3 storylines going on with the creepy glasses guy, the somehow popular blogger, & the new idols themselves. Creepy glasses guy took up most of the time in this episode.

The show's more about the supporters than the idols, but I don't really know anything about them in the little time they had.

I took a quick look at the source material and there's a lot of explanation they cut out. Something like this really needs more time to show why we're following certain characters.

It doesn't help that we're stuck with still shots, rare animation, and lifeless CG animation for the opening.

My other regret about the show is that the name overlaps with some other stuff (Million Arthur and Million Live namely).

So... animation is marginally better than the first episode, but given how jarring it was in the first place, that's not really an improvement. Growing up with Hanna-Barbera animation and their trade-mark minimal animation style, I'd thought I'd be used to this, but no.

It's a 4 minute short, which worked for the first season of Miss Monochrome, another idol anime. But it's not working here. They're trying to develop over-arching plotlines in that brief space, and after 240 seconds of staring at the screen, I'm lost. I do like idol anime (Love Live! and Idol Master) but this is so disjointed.

Still liking the concept but still finding the quality to be wildly inconsistent (and, ugh, that CGI). It's only a short so it's not a big time investment or anything so I'm not going to drop it unless it really craps the bed. Very much a disappointment though.

Episode 2

I know this is about the supporters of the idols but for a short, there is just not enough time for it to develop properly. Great concept poor execution. This seriously felt like a the middle of a long episode.

Plus the CGI is god awful to look at. I might have to skip it every time it comes on and I never usually skip openings or endings.

Like stark said, I really hope some catchy songs come along otherwise its just pretty bad.

I wanted The Idolmaster One For All for the PS3, but I got this knock off instead.

Let's just forget the CGI scene never happened.

The first episode wasn't to bad. I didn't know a lot about Idol Otaku culture and the first episode kinda goes into that. The only Idol anime I've ever seen was Wake Up Girls so I'm gonna try this one out.

Episode 3

And then there's a scheduling conflict going on. There's an idol contest in Shibuya, but there's also a concert that day. Going big is what this idol wants to do, but her boss doesn't have the money, and that's where the hikikomoris come in. Yeah, that was just bad with nothing but the business side rearing its ugly head.

Episode 3

Still have no idea what's going on but it looks like this girl is striving to become major like that Itorio group.

Still don't know who is the antagonist. The twitter girl or the glasses guy. But yeah i'm lost

Sadly this goes into my drop list. They're trying to pack too much into too short of a time.

You got the three-girl idol group in the intro and Stalker-guy who follows them because they're just the most popular right now. Then another other girl who wants to go big but can't because of her agency's lack of budget. Or is she part of the first team and just wants to go solo? Not quite clear on that. Finally you have Twitter-girl and her social media campaigns. All this in three minutes?

The basic idea I'm getting is that it's the fans who are driving these idols successes rather than the agencies. For someone like me, who grew up in an era when Disney-backed bands did not exist, I like the idea, but it's just not a good execution. Maybe I'll binge it at the end, it when it's over, so there's some semblance of continuity. Or even better, if they edited the whole series into one comprehensive OVA.
