Everything but Christmas. People have too much fun with it and make movies like Bad Santa off of it.

Christmas is fun, but the meaning is really vague. It used to be about jesus's birth, but now it's all about gifts and families. Plus this Fat red creep comes out of nowhere. Soul reason why Christmas is still on and about is because how companies can profit off of it.

The meaning behind each holiday has been lost to me for a long time(meaning I don't care anymore). But I still think they're nice to have because it gives us a reason to get into a different state of mind other than just living day to day and working. Of course, the family can get together and do something special anytime, but I think the fact that it is a holiday makes it more special for people.

Christmas isn't only about gifts and families in my mind. For the past few years I haven't wished for anything because I have everything I want. For me, it's more important to find people to be around, making sure other people can get something nice instead of focusing on my wishlist. And holidays tend to wake people up to the fact that it's possible to donate money or things to people who have less.

I don't think they're a necessity.

I'd say they're more of a nicety than anything.

I do find it interesting to watch the specials they have on the History Channel about the origins and evolutions of different holidays.

Ever heard of the last man on Earth? He kept time and celebrate Holiday because in actuality, without Holidays, existence is relatively mundane or even hellish, depending on your circumstances. How do you believe Soldiers would feel if they couldn't celebrate Christmas? You could live without holidays, but there are tangible benefits.

Anytime? If there's no holiday, it's either you see your families and relatives every SINGLE time or you might not see them at all.

If it's the latter, it's going to more like "maybe later" anytime. Way later. "See you on someone's death bed" kinda anytime.

Not everyone wants to be with their relatives and families. There's always going to be a nagging aunt, a bully cousin, a nosy mother-in-law, a douche uncle, etc. There's always a black sheep in the family.

Holiday. It gives people the reason or making other people reunite for THAT reason.

im fine with some if the holidays is there..Some holidays is only there because of religous belief..
I do think some of them should be removed because i see them pointless to have as a holiday..

Holidays can be helpful. There's time for work and there's time to relax. The reason public holidays came into being in these times is because if they weren't in all businesses, factories, offices etc. there there would be no time for anything but work. A balance is needed for a healthy life. It's up to you to decide if you're going to recognise any holiday or how you want to spend it. You can stay on your own or see family and or friends or take a trip elsewhere at this time.

Let's see. Ask someone who works 40+ hours per week, or someone who works part-time or full-time AND goes to college part-time or full-time, if he'd like to give up all of the holidays as unnecessary...

We need a break from work and school from time to time, and not just our days off from work and or school.

But they don't, some people need a reason to get together and celebrate something otherwise they would go crazy living the same life day in day out in their boring jobs. It's true that companies make money from it, but celebrations and holidays have existed way before big corporations did, so it's not like all holidays were invented specifically to take your money.
