Water will taste like whatever's in it. Ground-sourced water will have dissolved solids even after filtering. Typically not poisonous levels but there's stuff in there. Rain water has stuff in it that it picks up on the way. Most bottled water has a little salt or other stuff added "for taste" (says it right in the label).

Try distilled water -- I prefer it now because it's got nothing in it. Will still drink regular when I have to, but there's definitely flavors in different waters.

Some people worry about distilled water being a poison while others say it's healthier with no science either way. I think it's what rain water "used to" be, before all the pollution. Plants love distilled too, and they're pretty damn sensitive.

Chemicals that I can't even pronounce in food... That's always fun.

I don't especially like chemicals, but since they're in everything i ingest, probably, I obviously have to live with them. Because I'm too lazy and too cheap to cook or buy organically.

Chemicals scare me to a certain extent. Got be extra careful not to get in on my mouth or for some -- on my skin.

Maybe she hadn't realised that chemicals can be organic or not and that the very air we breathe can be broken down into chemical components

I don't mind chemicals. I may have slacked of in my science classes, particularly Chemistry, but I did learn. I'm not into fearing myself, to say the least.

I'm not fond of table salt, though. I like kosher more, as well as rock (specifically Himalayan) and sea salt. Kosher is easier to grab and measure by touch, and I prefer the taste. Himalayan is cool and pretty-looking, and the more mild flavor is easier to moderate. I also like the more metallic taste. It's my "fancy salt," so I don't use it often. I actually prefer to reserve Himalayan for foot soaks, in place of epsom salt. I bought my older sister a Himalayan salt slab last Christmas. It's cool... And heavy. I couldn't help but want it for myself.

What I will say about table salt is that it's better for salting eggplant, and that I'm not interested in the iodine. I know that they add it to help combat iodine deficiency, but it's not like I'm not getting iodine from other sources. Therefore, given the choice, I won't cook with it.

I have to admit, though, that I eyeball ingredient lists that contain 14+ who-knows-what. I'd rather keep things more simple, and more discernible.

It never made any sense to me how people classify things as harmful if they aren't natural. That sort of judgment is horrible.

Each compound has to be understood individually. Heck, cyanide is natural and it is hardly healthy. So are death cap mushrooms and feces. Mercury is natural. Formaldehyde is natural.

Everything will break down eventually, and there are harms associated with nearly everything. It's about how much risk each person is willing to take once they understand the likelihood of harm, whether something is artificial or natural.

now if people would only understand that the exact same thing goes for food, though that in itself is just another form of chemistry.

Nope, I do not. Though I knew two people who went vegan for a month and then stopped.

On the topic of water... I HATE IT. I FREAKING HATE IT. Like, I'm not even joking on this.. It's bitter... It even leaves a bitter taste in my mouth! Everyone always tells me "Well, Noodles, I don't know what's wrong with you ...but water doesn't have a taste..." Yes it does. A freaking bitter one at that.

BACK ON TOPIC!

The only reason people tell you that is because they're trying to scare people into eating "healthier".

I have only one question after reading this.........................

I was thinking, maybe if you sell her on ORGANIC chemicals..

I mean I hear hexanes are organic. they must be good, right?

Honestly though, I think fear of chemicals is pervasive in american culture today, I mean people obsess about the trace chemicals in just about anything these days. BUT, that may just be my personal judgement on culture today.

lol... It's not a bad thing, and I meant nothing by it except that the name is very adorable.

Tsukiyomi: MOONPHASE was an anime from a while back.
