I watched the first season so I'll probably watch this out of morbid curiosity. Let's see what happens to our amazing heroine bitch-chan.

Would you recommend?

I know the movie is coming out, so don't know if read or watch the movie.

Looks like the Diabolik Lovers drinking game will resume.

lol, instead of drinking, you should "WATCH HxH" whenever you were about to take a sip.

Unlike most of the book's detractors, I didn't read it like a mainstream novel, but I read it as porn. I don't hate it for how it portrayed an S&M relationship, because otherwise you failed to cater to the fetish for the most porn if you did portray a healthy relationship. There's got to be an element of fantasy to it like real porn in order for it to work. This is true for the most part unless you want to prove a point besides erotic material. Some reviews on Goodreads forget this.

Back on topic, it wasn't arousing, but again, I'm an 18 year old male. This is obviously targeted to an older demographic of women whose fetishes differ greatly from my own. It fails as a romance for me, and the sex scenes weren't all that great. Romance is different from porn, and it needs to be portrayed healthily in my opinion. Other than that, the only redeeming factor is the sex scenes, which I found overly banal. Strangely, despite catering to a demographic of older women, it also seems to cater to virgins.

I'm fairly confident there are more arousing s&m books in the world.

I admire your persistence, especially with that Midousuji avi. Every time you tell me to go watch HxH, I actually go watch an episode but then stop. Guess you'll have to tell me to watch HxH about 100 more times before I finish.

I'd offer a few recommendations, but I sense that the mods might shoot me. ... If anything, 50 Shades, Twilight fanfic that it is, is entry-level S&M at best. I'll leave it at that.

The anime probably sold poorly in Japan because it wasn't faithful to its game "Haunted Dark Bridal"...

But the sequel to the game "More Blood" (though making the Sakamaki brothers OOC and kinda less sadists, it brought it a flood-gate of fans due to the new Mukami brothers as well and less violent and more romantic moments I supposed). Since I started off knowing Diabolik Lovers from a totally different perspective and moved on the watch the anime then play "More Blood" - I find this anime still of considerable worth. But of course like I said, because the first game was targeted to those who kinda enjoy sadist/masochists moments and that the anime failed to follow and properly portray the game into the anime is maybe the reason why the anime sold poorly in Japan.

But over the last few years they changed the Sakamaki brothers into more 'loving' and Mukami brothers too - releasing more fandiscs, Character songs discs (One set for Haunted Dark Bridal, one more for More Blood), more merchandise, and recently two new PS Vita game - "Vandead Carnival" (total out of the main story game, a dating sim) and "Dark Fate" making it really popular among otome, somehow. Also they had Animate Cafe themed Diabolik Lovers last year and they just recently announced a new line of wedding themed fandiscs and merchandise (called "Bloody Wedding"). Thus you can see how this series is getting a season 2.

Oh, and Sakamaki Shuu and Kanato are made into figurines (announced in WonFest Winter last month)

Because of the hype and good sales from every single event they held in Japan, merchandises sold worldwide and Animate Cafe.

So yeah.
