So...maybe I'm an idiot, but how does CR notify you when someone replies to one of your comments under a CR video. I kinda like discussing episodes after I watch them, but I can never find my old comments or read the replies.

I'm sure it's some obvious button, but in my newbieness I can't find it.

Not sure about episode comments, as I've never really had a discussion there.

But notifications in general should pop up in the top portion of the screen, slightly to the right. - The shoulder and head silhouette icon next to the search bar.

When you receive a new notification, a popup appears next to the icon, just click on it then click on 'Notifications' in the menu.

Not that I found. If you want to find a discussion on a particular series (and I assume the episodes as they come out, look to the forums, then find the anime forum, and from there, find the series that you are looking for in the topics. Typically they're labelled "anticipation and discussion".

Upon the occasions when someone has commented upon one of my own comments to a particular episode, I was NOT notified.

I don't think it's your newbieness.. I'm pretty sure others are right, it just doesn't happen. Even in the forums, folks are only notified if someone uses the 'quote' or 'quote selected' links when responding to you, which makes things difficult at times.

If you're looking to talk about a specific series, it might be easier to track things in the forum, though. Most of them have dedicated threads, and you can post a lot more in those than in ep comments.

Comments here on CR are like litter. You drop something and leave it laying around, quite a few other people will see it, maybe add to the pile, and keep walking by. Perhaps they will indicate that they like or disapprove of something, and a whole crew of gremlins keep track of how many do which one, but not who. Occasionally someone will pick something up and read it, then write on the bottom of it and drop it again, but usually not until later when you've stopped watching. The person who picked it up would have to go out of their way to visit you on your profile to tell you personally, so usually they don't. Unless you go back yourself and try to sift through everyone else's detritus to find your original slip, which isn't always easy, because it gets blown around in the wind, you won't know if anyone cared.

Forum posts, on the other hand, are under closer scrutiny; some of them even show up on the home page for a brief time. Each one is recorded with it's own permanent number and all it takes is clicking the "quote" link instead of "reply" for someone to keep a conversation going. Forum posts also can be embellished with bbcode, links, colors, pictures, even (CR) vid links, and can be much longer than the limits on a comment.

Comments are mostly something someone makes in passing: LOL, Loved it, "That's what SHE said", rhetorical clever remark, etc.
Posts are something that spark interactive discussions if that's what you are looking for, or they still can be just for the lols.

These aren't actual hard and fast site rules that are enforced, but that's pretty much just the way things are at present if you want to be practical.

As mentioned above, in the anime forum there is a thread for almost all simulcasts. There are also links to previous seasons, too, but those can be more difficult to ferret out. The index for those threads, one per show, not episode, can be found here: /forumtopic-804615/show-discussion-index.

Another newbie question what do the symbols mean in the bottom right of our posts? Like don't like report to moderator? What's the small circle one? Anyone know?

Your browser should give you a text description when you hover over each one.

If it doesn't they are, from left to right:

! = Report to moderator (duplicate of the text link)
Thumbs up = Rate this forum post up
Thumbs down = Rate this forum post down
Barred circle = Rate this forum post as spam

Unlike comments, I don't know that rating a forum post up or down really has any effect. Rating a forum post as spam supposedly does, but if it really is spam, reporting it to a moderator is usually more effective (and display a notice the post has been reported).

I remember hearing that the "Rate as spam" only triggers a moderator notice after multiple ratings, but I don't know how accurate that info is.

Thanks I accidentally hit the spam one trying to hit thumbs up. I'm using my Kindle Fire sorry about that.
