God..... What tump said today in response to North koreas threat reminded me of the quote Trueman said before dropping the A-bomb on Japan

Trump: "North Korea best not make anymore threats to the United States. They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen before"

I hope thing deecalate soon

You think North Korea actually cares. They are a rogue state that does not have allegiance to anyone.

Please, North Korea won't last much longer. If they get into a war, they have no viable allies

If only they had believed Hitler; Kim is serious, he wants nukes both for defense and as a threat - push comes to shove, he will nuke Seoul. EVERY president since the Korean war has believed the Kims to be serious ...hopefully with Trump they believe WE are serious. They are a threat, and that threat is growing.

THe thing is, sooner or later they will somehow make a nuke that can actually travel enough of a distance to another country.

Best Korea has two primary exports: Sabre rattling and crazy. Normally, US president's recognize NK's rhetoric for what it is. But now you have a President that is throwing the same sort of rhetoric back at NK. Which of course is going to make NK respond and try to top the US. Senpai has noticed them finally.

Now, however, Trump just blew up all of the effort his own State Department had made in terms of applying geopolitical pressure. While likewise setting himself up for a fall. He undercut Tillerson and drew a line in the sand. The problem is that now if NK does anything else and Trump doesn't or can't ( as he needs Congress ) respond with "fire and fury" it further exposes Trump as weak and ineffectual. If Trump DOES respond with "fire and fury" it further exposes him as dangerously inept and unpredictable. He's set himself up for a fall either way.

NK threatened Guam after Trump came out dickswinging with "fire and fury". There's no way in fark he consulted the State Department before stumbling out during a photo op at a golf club to swing his dick at another nation. He's undermining his own administration yet again and doing so with a rather dangerous topic.

Kim also doesn't need to nuke Seoul. He can shell the ever living fuck out of Seoul at any time. That's kind of been South Korea's concern for, you know, decades. It's also one of many reasons why Trump can't go out dickswinging like this. If he provokes Kim with random bullshit from a golf course, it's South Korea that will pay the immediate price.

The US is in no position to effectively strike NK with enough force to prevent an untold amount of casualties in SK. Nevermind actually defeat NK. It'd take months to get the US war machine from point A to point B in terms of actually taking down the whole country.

So if you're so concerned about Seoul, tell your President to shut the fuck up and let the grown ups handle this.

The U.S. president doesn't need congressional authority to respond to Nork aggression (though he should have it) ...only to declare war (which officially never ended). Unlike with the feckless Obama they know Trump is serious. We've had troops in Korea for this very purpose; because if the failure of past administrations, the Norks are a bigger threat than they need be - "shutting the F up" is the problem! We are in a position to respond, but since Trump is being wise here, he is exploring every solution, with war as a last option because of the casualties; Kim is willing to use both nukes AND normal ordinance on Seoul.

Another N. Korean export is slave labor ...well they do get to keep 10% of their earnings.

They just miniaturized a warhead. They have the delivery system. They already have the capability it would seem.

Considering that Guam has a THAAD battery. I wouldn't be too worried.

Guam has had a Temporary Flight Restriction on the island for at least 5 years. And that was because that was where the THAADs were placed.

I'm pretty sure the generals have taken note that Guam is a strategic point. I mean hell everyone remembers that Pearl Harbor was bombed. But they don't remember they actually bombed Guam simultaneously. Because of its strategic location.

Lindsey Graham on CBS is saying there's going to be a war if North Korea doesn't abandon its nuclear ambitions. He says Donald Trump has every intention to follow through on the "fire and fury" rhetoric. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euzrWcKA9qE

When I was reading the coverage elsewhere this morning, it didn't sound like there was anything more than the usual Trump bluster, but either Lindsey Graham is playing his schtick to the hilt, or he really believes there will be a war soon on the Korean Peninsula. All the coverage I've read suggests that the Kim dynasty is ideologically committed to keeping its nuclear weapons. Ergo...
