WEll, this is what I've been trying to say (what they also did). They didn't say anything in their adverts regarding that there's going to be stuff excluded from the season pass... And they most defensively didn't say that that the game would feature a free2play model once you've bought it. What they're doing is false advertisement and I think that's unacceptable for a company to do. Ok I reliaze that AAA game development is risky and expensive as fuck, I'm not condemning that since it's a fact. However I think these companies are using such a dirty business practice, if you look at other AAA developers and publishers then they're avail to avoid this with stuff like optional DLC and cosmetic DLC that doesn't add anything to the experience... And if that's not enough then they add merchandise outside the product to cover their losses and then earn some of that.

Exactly, I think the game uncharted did something like that a while ago, spend a bunch on the game BUT you cant play online unless you buy an online pass. What the hell?

I wouldnt mind if that was pointed out but I vaguely remember it causing an uproar with fans as they bought the game, clicked on the multiplayer bit, only to realise they couldnt play without forking out some more cash...

In short, companies think their consumers are dumb.

Welcome to Madden, or any other sports games, where the only thing that changes is the roster.

Companies want to keep milking your hard earned dollars for the cheapest bits of plastic and technology... I just don't get it. While these plastic figurines may be cute and innovative by utilizing NPCs, I still feel this is going to set a horrible [expensive] trend.

I think that releasing a full game of wich half is behind a pay-wall thats called DLC, is a crime. It's like selling a car but you need to pay extra to be allowed to make use of the backseats and windows. The world SHOULD NOT work that way. I am not entirely against the concept of DLC though, but only if it adds new content to a full game not to finished a half published one.

I am following an education in Game Development (bachelors) partialy because of the lack of games i realy want to see, and partialy because of the actions from companies such as EA that publish half finished games and then try to sell you the rest through DLC.

I never buy dlc's anyway. But, I think that they're scamming their fans into buying something for a fake price.

I think it's endemic of all industries. Everyone is trying to get their "fair share" of the market to cover the rising costs (which come from others who are trying to make ends meet and get a little "extra") and a tidy profit.

When everyone does it, prices skyrocket and nobody actually makes any profit, and all suffer.

To complicate things further, fans say they demand better graphics, better tech, and so on, but, gains in tech aren't THAT great, and work/time rarely justifies the output or the added cost needed to cover that work/time.

In the case of anime, costs seem to be constantly going up, and quality isn't improving greatly compared to the age when people hand drew and colored every cel...

All in all, I blame the uglier side to capitalism more than anything else. It's a brutal system with less and less working failsafes as we go on.

Evolve is pretty bad, it's concerning but nothing new either I suppose.
Also Polygon is one of the worst sites out there

Is the game that bad? As for Polygon website, I do my best to stay away from it for some people in gaming community told me how crappy they are. Plus, I read some of their articles & its cringe worthy. As for Evolve DLC issue, some people will either wait for ultimate edition to come out soon or pass on to other games.

Can't really comment on the game, I was talking more about the DLC aspect of it. It looks pretty fun, but probably short lived.

My biggest gripe gaming wise isn't buying DLC.
It's pay to win games.
The companies that make those type of games should be burned to the ground.
Looking at your 2K for ruining the NBA 2k franchise...
