I'm going to have to watch it because it really doesn't sound as bad as some of you are making.

I agree, too much to read... But the sound of the topic makes me think I would not like the show!

Wow this sounds like a good idea. By having this experience these kids will be able to see the true pain and suffering that comes from being a parent.

This whole steaming pile of pregnancy nonsense you spewed out is every intelligent humans response to an unexpected life change that they feel they have no choice in. Sorry to burst your bubble pregnancy is a vile gross process, that every female can do. To some what quote lewis black "A one night stand with no love can produce children". But like you said these kids are not going through the pregnancy. That is the phase I like to call the dumbing down phase, well in the case of unexpected pregnancy. Basically you are shocked an appalled and scared. But you don't want to appear to be a bad person. So you start to lie to yourself. How do you do this? Well with this mystic fascination with something that is as old as dirt. This allows you to start to believe that it is a great thing. It makes it a lot easier to throw away and dreams and hopes you had for yourself and convince yourself that having a child is a great thing.

So by bypassing this stage in life these kids are unaltered. They are themselves they can see parenthood for what it really is, a long painful process. As a result they develop a devotion to never having kids. Which in turns allows the population to stop growing. There will be more stuff, food, water, video games, for everyone. And the world will be a much happier place. We can stop cutting down forests, stop building damns and new homes. We will stop constantly expanding and spreading our resources so thin. Slowly people start to relax. Slowly competition to survive in the human world fads because there are enough jobs for everyone. Everyone has wealth everyone has a home. Food becomes cheaper, water becomes cheaper, gas becomes cheaper. Soon cities start to shrink, nature grows back. Then people become much more trusting of each other. Crime slowly becomes a thing of the past. And overall everyone is happier. Provided this fixes enough people this could one day, 300 or 400 years down the road, be our reality.

But sadly for every six people who do not want to reproduce, there are 12 people who follow the gigantic family trend, and have 3-7 kids.

Isn't there like, a law that prohibits this?

Sometimes America really creeps me out. Things like this wouldn't be possible in my country, ever.

3 days ? And thats suppose to teach reality?

Hell yeah, if i could have 4 day off a week of kids, i'll be the happiest in the world. (not really because after 5 minutes i'll start to miss them... like when its the babysitter, you wanna call every 5 minutes... )
I guess those teen wont have to work, go to school, cook, do laundry, deal with the social pressure and the fact people will judge them. Actually, they will be PAID for taking care of the babies...

Its like a 3 days babysitting party! yay!

such a waste of time. Its not gonna teach anything to anyone.

Make them work 60hrs a week as a waitress and then come back home taking care of the baby, making the oldest do homework, do chores and such... Make them being point at in the street....

They make it sound like being a teen single mother is a party.

Make me so angry.

Relax Hylia. The show not actually teaching reality is the least of the producer's concerns. Its just profit-driven. I do understand how it doesn't compare to really having a kid and all but I don't think the teens are the least bit ready to face what you described. Really. And well, since its on topic I'd like to salute all the supermoms out there for all the little personal victories they have each day. I take my hat off to all of you.

I'm sure the show provided for the children's safety. There is no way NBC would have taken on the liability.

Its TV not reality. Of course they are only doing it for three days, what are they supposed to do, film an entire year. And why does this make you angry, you're overreacting just a little!
