Ignorance is bliss.

Intelligence is insanity.

Insanity is the key to truth, I suppose.

Ignorance might be bliss for some, but not for others. Let people do whatever makes them happy.

Simple is Best.

This quote is what plays into the "ignorance is bliss" feeling many refer to. The actual meaning of the quote of ignorance being bliss heavily depends on the context the person is using it in. For now, I'll refer to the OP's context.

Sure, ignorance/stupidity are harmful to society overall, depending on what a person is ignorant to, but a generally happy, ignorant person doesn't have much to worry about if their basic needs and desires and taken care of. The less aware you are of troubles around you, the happier you generally tend to be.

The other context is that someone's ignorance to something benefiting you but harming them, or would harm them upon their discovery of it, is bliss to you. It's a broad phrase that can be applied with many contexts, not simply general intelligence or social/self awareness.

It's like doing drugs. You feel so good even though it's hurting you.

I prefer to know things. That way I can figure out how to destroy them.
