I was just having a cigarette on my front porch and a party bus rolled by.

It had loud club music blasting, my porch was rattling, but the thing is from what I could see everybody was seated looking straight forward. Which makes sense, you'd have to practically scream to communicate with the person next to you as loud as those beats were.

It's 9:45, which is a little early to be unable to stand, so I'm ruling that out in my own mind.

Granted, I am watching anime on a Friday night, but would you get on that bus if they stopped and invited you?

Even if I had the energy, I know I wouldn't. I'm sure the bar-hopping is fun, I would meet somebody cool, I live in a spread out town, so they are doing the safe thing while bar-hopping (for now), but I couldn't stop laughing.

So who would get on the very civil party bus with the porch-shaking bass?

Eh probably not. I don't care for getting drunk. Correction. I don't care for hangovers.

No, I'd blow it up before I ever got on it.

no, but once about 7 or so years ago I jumped into the car of a guy I only met once or twice as a friend of a friend when he asked me to tag along to a midnight european punk band playing in Brooklyn. It was about a two hour drive there, grab a bite to eat, watch the pre-show in a rundown building, then main act, drive back, got in around 3am, and was at work at 10am...

It was fun.. but it wasn't a huge group of people, and it wasn't obnoxiously loud music because it was deemed obligatory for travel and not about getting shitfaced.

I did my time running around to events that made me uncomfortable, I realized I could never live as the wallflower nor could I speak loud enough under those circumstances.

I attended the inaugural Nebraska Insect Showcase with some old friends and some new housemates. I intend to go this year as well, if they have a second round. I ate Cricket cookies and saw some great since-explained to me bullshit noise bands, but it was cool, some people who were real into insects and noise found a reason to convene, and one group kind of played the other.

People tend to eventually ask me why I'm so shy and THEN get weirded out. It makes more sense to me to ask people about the things they aren't shy about. Insect showcase, learning about and exploring insects, no need to be shy. Why I'm not into the club scene, too many bad times to outweigh the mediocre times, don't really wanna talk about it.

Music I can't sit under without being destructively uncomfortable, I couldn't explain my problem with that any further than thoroughly enjoying eating a chocolate chip/cricket cookie, watching a slideshow, and watching noise rock sets intended to imitate insect noises.

If it's amateur and I'm into it, I'm there. If it's pro, I don't really need to be there. Go Lancers, I'll never buy a ticket to an Oilers game, if that helps explain myself further.

I've never heard of party buses before, but I don't drink and also don't live in a large city (not to mention I also didn't go away to a university, I stayed at home during college and went to a local campus) so that's probably why. I prefer my peace and quiet and wouldn't do anything like that.

So cliche.

The depiction of the movie compared to the book is a milestone.
