I was just wondering if someone could make a list of a bunch of really awesome shows that I should watch. I like most categories and it would be preferable if the series is finished for good. Thanks

Could you name some of the genres you like please? It'll be hard for me to give you recommendations otherwise.

There are some great mecha movies you can watch though, such as Char's Counterattack or even Macross: Do You Remember Love?. Honestly, MSG 0079, aka the original Gundam, is generic and Amuro Ray in this show is like your typical shounen character. I think Zeta Gundam (skip ZZ, it's sh*t!) and G Gundam are also better. Imho, Gundam was better before the 2000s to now, but Unicorn is alright.

I'm not a huge fan of Mecha shows either, but some that I have liked are Captain Earth and Gargantia.

For historical, it depends on what you mean by that. If you mean stuff set in the past, I guess like Baccano! (I'm sure there are others, thats just the only one thats jumping out at me). If you ment older shows, I'm probably not your best resource for that so I'll let someone else take that.

And here's a dump of shows I really liked (I'm a Romance and Comedy kinda guy):
Angel Beats!
Toradora!
Baccano!
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
Kill la kill
Kotoura-san
White Album 2 (I haven't seen the first one, the guy who recomended WA2 to me said WA wasnt very good and I didn't have any issues skipping it)
Your lie in April
Nichijou
Bakemonogatari (I haven't gotten to the rest of the monogatari series yet, but if they are as good as this one, concider them added)
Working!!
Squid girl
Hayate the Combat butler (I thought the first season was much funnier and its not really worth watching the second season unless you're really into the harem bit)
Shinsekai yori
Usagi Drop
Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!
Say "I Love You".
AnoHana (Haven't actually finished this one yet, but every episode thus far has gotten me at least teary eyed, I haven't been able to force myself to watch more than one episode a day, but its awesome)

Slice of life, comedy, and romance are probably my favourites. ive seen a few like angel beats, anohana toradora, clannad, non non biyori, air, kanon and maybe a few more. for action type shows i dont really like SAO, I love DBZ im watching Naruto and elfen lied was really cool but im not really sure what else. for adventure i guess it would be i like spice and wolf and once again i dont know anymore.. Scientific type shows like Steins gate is cool. And a good tearjerker is something i enjoy like anohana, angel beats, clannad, and maybe more ive a bad memory
