So I'm fairly new to the site, but not to anime, and ever since I've seen Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz or Mobile Suit Gundam (Can't recall which I saw first) I've been a big fan of the Mecha genre. As such I'm looking for any and everything mecha.

Some of these are included because they have an occasional mecha element so they may not quite actually be considered part of the mecha genre, but this is pretty much all there is here on CR:

TAG: Mecha

(Not on that list yet: /fafner-exodus )

Eureka Seven is awesome.

Gargantia of the Verderous Planet is very good, as is Full Metal Panic.

Star Driver is solid, though flawed.

Also, while not technically a Mecha series, Attack on Titan has a lot in common with Mecha; its also a very solid show.

Some of these sound interesting, and I'm not gonna lie, the one you mentioned jhanna_12, Date a Live, doesn't actually sound like something that would be mecha (I did look it up though. Still not sure if I would consider it mecha, but it might still be worth a watch.)

Any other shows you guys can think of?

Maybe you should watch Eureka Seven. Its main focal point is the romance, but still retains enough mecha to enjoy. Also if older anime doesn't bother you, you should try Gunbuster (it was made by Hideaki Anno, the person who made Neon Genesis Evangelion, which is also another mech anime you should watch). If you're not in to that maybe watch Gurren Lagann.

Without a doubt give Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann a shot.

It's my favorite anime of all time.

I recall watching some episodes of Evangelion (only episode I recall is them using some kind shield to protect from one of those alien things or whatever it is) and a little of Gurren Lagann as well (my little brother was watching the show). I guess I'll have to add those as well. As for Aldnoah, lol, of course I'm watching that. Inaho, a Mary Sue character he might be, is so damn clever with how he fights those Martian Knights. I defiantly would never think of half the things he's come up with. I'd approach the enemy like I did on Armored Core: Verdict Day; fire a hail of bullets until it stops moving. If that doesn't work, keep firing.

Did a quick search of Gunbuster. It looks and sounds interesting enough, so I'll have to add that as well lol. Is defiantly something I haven't heard of before now.

I should probably warn you that there are only 6 episodes, and it starts off kinda slow. Hope I didn't discourage you from watching it now.

Have you watched all the Gundam series? If not watch SEED/SEED Destiny (my favourite).

Other mech anime not mentioned:
RahXephon
Genesis of Aquarion (so-so series)
Infinite Ryvius
Patlabor
Escaflowne

These are older and not on CR.

Have you seen all the Gundam series? If not, I recommend giving the more up-to-date series a go, like Gundam 00 (seasons 1 & 2) and Gundam Unicorn (7-episode OVA), just for the improvements in the mobile suit animation. The Zeta series is another classic and the remake also looks quite good from the previews.

There are also the Macross TV and OVA series - Macross 7 and Macross Frontier being the most popular, and Macross Delta on the way. The mech aircraft are dynamically animated, and theme songs might even become your karaoke favourites. This post pretty much sums up all my sentiments on the series, and was quite educational too.

And if you're into WWII tanks, Girls und Panzer is a series that my mechanical engineering classmates who weren't into anime quite liked. There is something refreshing about an animated historically-accurate machine.

Lastly, I'd like to mention the Steamboy movie, whose main theme is the industrial steam revolution and isn't the hi-tech mech that falls squarely into the genre, but is worth watching for that rare detailed animation style that is a cross between Studio Ghibli, Makoto Shinkai and Sunrise.
