Monogatari Second Season was a lot better than Nisemonogatari in my opinion. All the character developments~

As for the original topic, I don't plan on buying it. But I do look forward to watching.

Ignored that guy. He a troll and try to provoke fights or add fuel to the fire. Personal opinion of my is that is God like good. It has like 6 seasons. If that is no good to you then I don't know what to say to you. Monogatari does so many things well is kind of hard to describe. They talk a lot and I mean a lot. Monogatari is the type of series you either love or hate depending of your personal views. If I remember correctly I believe the studio say they want to adapt every single light novel of the series.

Never expected this day to come. I had considered secluding myself in a mountain range doing nothing but studying Japanese, then moving to Japan, all so I could read this series as soon as possible. Hopefully the rest comes eventually -- I don't think I have the survival skills to survive the first part.

If you can last through ungodlike amounts of pure dialogue with nothing happening in between then more power to you.
I only lasted through half of Bakemono and dropped it, one of the very few animes I've ever dropped and not regret looking back.

If you enjoy a really good story with a lot of dialogue and a little action then yes. But if you are the type who can't really take a lot of talking because in some episodes its really just two people talking to each other for the whole episode, but the dialogue is great. If you can't take that then probably not. But i liked it.

All in all, the Monogatari series is probably my favorite anime of all time. All time. xxxHolic is really great as well but I have to go with this series.

I know some language and the culture so I can appreciate the wordplay and the puns they make when dissecting and analyzing the characters. Fanservice aside, the theme and plot totally rock. I've always liked those exorcist-themed things and supernatural themes. The art in this series is amazing and I feel that the producers have really succeeded in bringing old legends to modern times. I know words are not always adequate for conveying stuff but, as a writer, they are usually all that I have. This series brings out the beauty of the language. The metahumor, the art, everything. The characters. I literally like 90%+ of everything in this anime.I've felt deja vu while watching some episodes. Probably since my grandma has told me of a lot of similar myths and legends. I've been really into folk stories and horror stories since I was very young. I learned to read English myself by basically reading scary books.

The snake curse afflicting Nadeko is the strongest example. My grandma grew up in a village in the 1930s and snake curses were apparently pretty real to her. There are two types. A supernatural disease that causes snake scale markings to appear on your body as though you are being constricted by an invisible snake, and once the markings form a complete ring around your body, you die. They usually appear on the neck and torso, but sometimes the upper legs can be affected. The second form of the disease is one you get by killing a snake without provocation. Snakes are actually a symbol of good luck (white snakes are revered as deities), and my grandma says gamblers who carry a perfectly molted snake skin with them are the most lucky. So, if you kill a snake without a good reason, you will basically be the target of gradually worsening luck until you die. Most people who were cursed that way died before they turned 40 (4 being the number associated with death, they die before they are supposed to, basically). My zodiac animal is the snake (probably doesn't have much of a relation to this) but these sorts of stories really resonate within me.

I know there's no proof of any of this stuff and I'm not usually one to believe in superstitions, but I enjoy listening to these tales and imagining how things would be if I had grown up in those sorts of places. It's fuel for the imagination.

Anyway, I think this would be a confusing anime for people not familiar with the culture or language in any way. It's not an anime you just sit down and stare at, like Fairy Tale or Bleach or something. You actually have to think and understand stuff for it to be interesting to you. I disliked some parts when producers "cheapened" the beauty of it all by adding retarded modern anime elements, like gratuitous fanservice, but I still consider the Monogatari series one of the best ever made.

It's a book, genius. The book is being brought over.

Also a bit ironic since one of your favorite anime, Arakawa Under the Bridge, has a much longer title. Troll failing to troll? Sad sight.
