This is a definition of what a doomer is.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doomer

A doomer is one who believes that problems of ecological overshoot, such as over population, climate change, pollution and especially peak oil, will cause the collapse of industrial civilization, and, a significant human population die-off. Many doomers are also survivalists

I believe that fossil fuel depletion will cause the collapse of industrial civilization. And most people will die as a result. I plan on preparing for the collapse of industrial civilization by growing my own food on a permaculture farm.

I believe peak oil will cause modern civilization to collapse, which will cause a significant portion of the population to die. I believe modern civilization will cease to exist when oil becomes too scarce because modern civilization is dependent on oil for virtually everything.

I plan on moving away from a big city. I plan on moving over to the country-side where there is plenty of room to grow my own food. I plan on leaving the big city, where I live, because there isn't enough arable land in a big city to grow enough food for a good diet. I plan on living on a permaculture farm in a rural area, where I can grow my own food along with my neighbors. I plan on surviving the collapse of modern civilization.

So yes, in short, I believe the world is about to end soon. And I am preparing to survive it. I have ample scientific evidence to back up my claims that civilization, as we know it, is about to end.

Here's my proof. Read this book to find out why modern civilization is about to end as a result of peak oil.

The above book is a must read for anyone who plans on surviving the collapse of modern civilization. I think everyone should read the above book because it is pretty accurate about what is going to happen in the next couple of decades.

Any other doomers and survivalists on this forum? I would like some good advice from you guys on how I can survive the collapse of modern civilization.

Not a survivalist/doomer, but personally I would move to a state/city that has many agricultural plots. Sure we use oil to power our devices, but int he long run it isn't essential for plant growth (we have a large population which can make up for fast tools).

PS: Love the thought of having a large garden, natural/homegrown foods are always more bursting with flavors (too bad I am lazy though).

you live in a city? you wouldn't last 1 year out in the country or trying to do permaculture....

I plan on growing my own food during the next couple of year. I know economic collapse is eminent. It is coming within the next ten years, and the best way to prepare for it is to locally produce your own food.

First of all, peak oil isn't a conspiracy theory. It is a scientific fact. And the consequences of peak oil will be economic collapse and food shortages, because modern society is dependent on oil for virtually everything. When oil becomes too scarce and expensive, the economy will crash, and food shortages will happen because our modern economy and agriculture is dependent on oil.

Never said anything about it being a conspiracy theory

It's a fact just like the sun's gonna swallow up the solar system. It'll happen sooner or later.

The thing is, the stock markets would tank even sooner than both of those things.

Good luck

I'm not one who believes in doom and gloom. I also don't believe that peak oil has happened yet, but if it did I think it would take a long time.

But usually to survive alone, which would be hard because loneliness could lead to depression, self sufficiency and self defense would be a good idea. When people get desperate they are rather hostile and dangerous.

So I'm guessing forming a small community would be a good idea as well.

The world wont end for god sake. If something bad were to happen, we would overcome it. There is no scientific evidence to back up the end of civilisation. EVERYTIME someone predicts that we will die somehow, we do not...

I'd say I'm a doomer except for the fact I'm not sure whether oil depletion will be the cause. I don't like the term but it works.

Even though we've survived, that does not mean we will continue to survive. If this were true, then everything that starts will have no end. Eventually, a point will come at which it is impossible to recover. I can't say with any degree of certainty when that point will be, but it will come eventually. Just like how you can't honestly think you'll live forever just because you're alive. That makes no sense. All your worldly experiences and all things recorded in history show that things end. The hill is getting steeper, the climber is getting tired, and the weight of his pack is becoming heavier.

Bad developments and neutral things to be expected will stack over one another, faster than we can remedy them. This does not necessarily mean people will all die in one catastrophic incident, but that is a possibility. All I am saying is that mankind won't survive forever. There's no way it can. That's how it is to exist. You stop existing in that form one day.

All things will end. At the rate things are going now, things will end. And they will end even if we change, even if we migrate to other planets or even other solar systems. All we can do is delay, not prevent. This is not negativity, it is fact.

What!? The world will end in 10 years?!

This marks the 515,013th time the world will end on Date X, but I believe it this time!

The Doctor: You lot. You spend all your time thinking about dying. Like you're going to get killed by eggs or beef or global warming or asteroids. But you never take the time to imagine the impossible. That maybe you survive. This is the year 5.5 slash Apple slash 26. Five billion years in your future. And this is the day— hold on. This is the day the sun expands. Welcome to the end of the world.

Pretty sure I'll be one of the first to die.

you've made 13423532432 threads about overpopulation and shit. quite annoyed to be honest.

just make 1 thread, and make all your comments/thoughts related to overpopulation etc in that thread. why are the mods not locking these topics as duplicates? it's basically blatant trolling/spamming at this point.

we don't want to read the same topics over and over...
