RPs...
Ok to me that means a Role Player... so i don't get it.
Edit: i thought that's what he was talking about, but i wasn't sure... I dont' think there's much rping going on hereint eh cr forums, so i wondered, wtf?
But i've done my fair share of Rping... from table top to mmorpgs, to live action...
Dragoncrest rocked!
Vampire... kinda boring.
It was fun for awhile...
but eh... i can live without it..

However... Rping in the bedroom... that's ALWAYS fun ;)

RP: (Short for RPG) is a forum phenomena where members take the role of a character and act through a story arc, using a variety of writing styles such as prose, first person, and what are known as 'aol' styles (isolating each action in parentheses). Commonly mistaken for 'cybering' (which it is NOT) and generally looked down upon by other members, causing members in said forum to generally be segregated from everyone else(Commonly referred to as "Cave Dwellers" )

As a Mod I worked a lot in helping build a RP community, so I have a fairly expansive knowledge. I used to dive into it a lot - great practice for anyone who wants to learn/practice writing.

I didn't even recognize that CR had roleplays, though it makes sense, as Animes are commonly the most targeted entity for Roleplays. I just hate how most forums tend to heap into the same status as 'LARPs' (Live Action Role Players)

I do it on another site because I'm terrible with words and it forces me to try to get better, not to mention we aren't to serious there, always a lot of laughs.

Agreed, it does help you get better with words, if you try hard.

That is a very poor example of AOL style.
In a serious roleplay community you'd have someone tear you a new one, come and council you (good communities are great) or ask you to try harder.

:::lifts her eyebrows in question::: hmm?
:::bites lower lip and slightly squints her eyes at you::: what do you mean? AOL style.
:::leans forward and rests her hand on her chin, looking you directly in the eyes::: elaborate.

Which style would that be?

In the forum I was apart of any action that was separated by speech using various devices (* - :: }{ ect) was known as 'AOL style'

The wikipedia article is a bit vague, but valid

I prefer the prose/first person styles myself ^^ Prose allows for deeper detail and more POVs, but First Person allows a deeper connection with the characters (your in their shoes).

I feel like I've suddenly become a guru...
