can you give some examples? mr guru?

You don't need to be bitterly sarcastic.

Ugh.. I'd have to give like four different examples. tense and omnipresence are the big differences, dealing mostly with how much the narrator knows..
In First person, you have to deal with tenses. (very short and crappy examples follow)

It was then that I saw the old broken door, stained and scratched through years of abuse that I had no interest in knowing. I stepped forward to open the door, yet if I had known about the horrors beyond that door I would have run, screaming from the building. (Past tense. The narrator knows what is going to happen and is relating it to you personally)

As I ran up the stairs I scanned hastily around the old building. The state of the place was terrible. In the corners I saw piles of dust and cobwebs hanging from the ceiling in garish patterns. I forced away my sense of dread, when suddenly I caught the glint of a busted door handle. I moved my way towards the door and twisted the handle (Present tense: basically your seeing directly through the character's eyes at the time its happening.)

In Prose you have to deal with POVs and Omnipresence. Basically a third person is telling the story of the events. Semi Omnipresence means that the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of one character, but can't see the thoughts/actions of others and those across the ocean. Semi I find is the most common and what is commonly used in books. Full omnipresence is your hearing the story of someone who knows everything of what happen(ed/ing)

The sun shown brightly on the bay that morning. For Alex, it could only be the herald of great things to come. He put his hands into the coat of his heavy wool coat and stared out directly into the calm waters of a peacefully sea. He squinted his eyes through the light brushes of wind and watched as the fishermen slowly made their way out onto the bay. (semi-omnipresent. Your just hearing what Alex is doing/knows)

The sun shown brightly on the bay that morning. For Alex, it could only be the herald of great things to come. it only got better as his eyes caught the figure of Maria, a childhood friend who had played with him on these very same docks. "Hey!" He called out to her, waving his arms and smiling. Unwittingly Alex had startled the girl from her morning shopping over a pile of fish in the open market whose price was abnormally high, although she couldn't have known that several fishing boats had been lost. Even though she found herself annoyed with the antics, Maria set aside her chores and lightly stepped over to meet him. (fully omni-present. Narrator knows more then Maria or Alex)

Crappy, but that's the short of it. Each person writes differently from the next.

I guess i've always been better with interactioni style of playing... direct interaction, such as table top Vampire, or werewolf, or D&D. or live action, where you become the character.. Maybe that's considered acting style.. maybe?

First kind is Table-top Roleplaying (or Paper roleplaying)

Live action is known as LARPing. Live Action Role Playing.

yes kyo... that's def LARP...
so is being the lonely housewife who needs something "fixed"
or the sex-retary who "handles" the "problems" in the office.

Edit: for some reason this thread makes me smile.
