If you somehow monitor which users use this application then you can confirm I am a very frequent user of this application on Roku. I have an issue with the functionality I would like to be resolved.

Rewind/Fast-Forward

Please, this functionality is horrible. So much so that I would rather watch the opening of an anime rather than fast-forward because when trying to fast-forward we either:

1. Get sent back to 5-10 seconds ago rather than 10 seconds ahead.
2. Successfully skip 10 seconds ahead and then the bar freaks out and skips to the end of the episode and glitches the entire application until you close and reopen.

You're the only application on Roku that I know of (and I have a lot of channels) that does not use Roku's standard rewind/fast-forward of 1 click = 1x rewind/fast-forward, 2 clicks = 2x rewind/fast-forward, 3 clicks = 3x rewind/fast-forward. The standard works extremely well for applications like Funimation, Amazon Instant Video, HBO Go, etc. However, you and YouTube have the top 2 worst rewind/fast-forward functionality I have ever seen. YouTube beats you in being the worst, but your application is still terrible in this aspect.

I have heard the pro of the new rewind/fast-forward functionality is you can control how far you move in 10 second increments, but this simply does not work the majority of the time. The majority of the time clicking [>>] button once will return you 5-10 seconds back in the video or just freeze and then play your video where it was when you clicked the button 5~ seconds later. You have to click [>>] button twice to skip just 10 seconds so in the best case scenario you have to press this button between 10 - 20 times just to skip the opening of an anime.

You also have the option of pressing the [>>] and holding it down and it will rewind/fast-forward 1x, 2x, 3x speed depending on how long you hold the button for but again this rarely works. Most times you either press and hold and the video freezes and 5 seconds later starts playing where you originally were or will sometimes rewind/fast-forward will actually work, but when you expect it to maintain it's rate it will all of a sudden go to the end of the episode and glitch. Again, terrible design.

You claim that we should give this new functionality time back when you updated to give us HD videos on Roku, but I have given this many months and my patience is expired. Your application on Roku is very solid, you just need to fix your rewind/fast-forward functionality.

Please if you own a Roku and agree with me post your support of this.

Good luck with this, They refuse to fix or change anything with this horrid app. I canceled my account because the Roku was the main reason I watched crunchyroll on but it being over 6 months since the change I decided to leave and go over to Funimation as they have a better lineup now and a much better app over all. Seriously, this place is a joke now and they do not care at all.

As of 02/19/2015 Crunchyroll has updated their Roku application, however the rewind/fast-forward is still broken. See below.

Your recent Roku update did not fix the rewind/fast-forward functionality... can you please stop trying to be a special snowflake and just use the standard Roku rewind/fast-forward functionality?

Roku rewind/fast-forward feature STILL isn't fixed. You guys really need help...

Edit: Also, you guys need to look at the release time for all your shows on the Roku. According to the Roku player last night at 1:45 AM EDT it said Naruto Shippuden Episode 408 was going to come out in 22 hours which would be basically 0:00 AM EDT on Thursday rather than the actual release time of 7:00 AM EDT on Thursday. Your application is 7 hours off... for the worse.

If you are referring to the way it works, CR would first have to admit it is a problem.

Personally, I believe in device consistency (i.e., working in the same manner other apps on the device do, which isn't true of the current CR Roku app), rather than app consistency across all devices (which was apparently CR's reasoning in making the change).

To make it clear, I'm not happy with the way the RW/FF function works on the current CR Roku app, but I also don't see them changing it anytime in the foreseeable future.

If they are good software engineers then they should be able to go back to the previous RW/FF function before they "upgraded" Roku application to 720p quality videos without much effort as all the code should be stored in a file storage of some kind such as GitHub, TFS, etc.

I don't believe the issue of implementing the change in the software is the roadblock here.

The powers that be at CR first have to agree they should change it; and they apparently haven't.

I can't believe The Anime Network just released their application and they have better fast-forward/rewind than you guys. You need to fire your engineers and hire some of their engineers...

This rewind/fast-forward is really annoying. It'll skip forward and go into the next episode.

Apparently Crunchyroll doesn't care about Roku. They think their design is perfect and nothing is wrong. FIX YOUR REWIND/FAST-FORWARD ALREADY! Just use the default Roku version that 99% of applications use.

Funimation does it right, The Anime Network does it right, Amazon Prime On Demand does it right, HBO Go does it right, you and YouTube are the only bad engineered applications. Fix your application. Are you just going to ignore your paying customer demands? Show me one person who likes your rewind/fast-forward then show me how long they USE the Roku application.

You guys either need to fire who ever made the rewind/fast-forward or give them another chance to do it correctly. Either way, you need to let us customers know you're doing something about this. It's very annoying and makes me angry that Funimation does not have some anime you guys have. If they did, I would kiss this site long gone with how terrible the service has become.

Using my Roku 3 (which doesn't use line-of-sight IR, YMMV with older models that do need it), I have found a system that works for me pretty well. Sure, this is kludgy, but it gets me by most of the time...

As soon as the OP starts, I press and then immediately release the FF button, and wait a brief instant to let playing catch up.

Then just after it has barely started playing, I repeat that press-release-wait process again, and again, and again, for a total of 4 presses and 4 (very brief) waits.

For the shows that have the standard 1:30-ish openings, that usually gets me quite close to the beginning of normal play.
