What if some new animes were made 3D?
Posted 2/3/08
Would you mind if they started making anime with 3D animation in Japan? Like how companies like Pixar only use 3D animation now, or more specifically like the 3D hentai they've been making recently/that Final Fantasy 7 movie? I personally wouldn't like it if they started to make too many animes that way, mainly because its not what I'm used to and what I know to be anime. What about you guys, how would you feel?

The first and probably last 3D anime I ever watched is "Kai Dou Maru." Well, the plot kinda sucked but then this topic is discussing more of the animation so moving alone. It sucked. The animation looked hideous. No offense to people who like it! I really didn't like it that much...not to mention they intentionally made the colour faded. I think their trying too hard to be creative. Just stick to the basics...>.< Just my opinion! Anyways, besides this one, I haven't watched any other 3D anime so....I guess my opinion based on one 3D anime doesn't really matter. -_____-

Making a tv series I doubt they would have a big enough budget to make 'pretty' 3D animation. The FF movie had good 3D animation cos FF is so popular and they had enough money to make it look good.

There's already been MS IGLOO: Hidden One Year War and MS IGLOO: Apocalypse 0079. Quality not up to Advent children, but they were excellent with phenomenal voice acting and a nice story, squeezed into 3 episodes per. But seeing Char own in glorious 3D was great.

They'd have to do some refining somehow get the need to cut costs or their budget would drain, but making some new ones in 3D is a good idea.

Though I still like the animation where they pour blood, sweat and tears into every drawing, like To Heart (and the beautiful watercolor background), or up it with some effects like in Zeta Gundam: A New Translation.

i wouldn't like it. i would like to have that same feeling of japanese art and not like a nickoldean jimmy neutron feel.

Depends on the quality I guess? And if they had good quality, there couldn't be a really crappy plot, either! You have to have the best of both worlds!

having final fantasy advent children 3-d wouldn't be bad. actually more like AWESOME! the big problem is that advent children's 3-d quality takes waaay too long to develop. for example 3 minute scene of fighting in advent children took 3 WHOLE days. give these animators 30 years tops before animaiton moves into the next step.

Yeah, very expensive. Meaning at the very least one episode a month. Plus we would have less anime series a season, compared to how it is nowadays.
