Of course they can. anybody can get curious. even gay people can get curious about the opposite sex...

just because they experimented with a sex that is not their initial desired one, it doesn't mean they automatically become gay or straight. they could not like it. or they could like it and realize they're bisexual.

I mean, it's pretty black and white for me as I've never been confused by my sexuality... always knew how I feel from a young age.

It seems to me that when guys are gay, they're gay. Environment doesn't really seem to factor in.

Girls on the other hand seem more likely to become "gay" than guys in an effort to fit in or make a statement. So I would think that it's probably more prevalent in female only schools. But of course that's just faux gay girls. The females who are truly homosexual are likely similar to guys in that environment wouldn't make a difference.

That's just my opinion though as a casual observer of social trends as I see them.

I didn't even know this misconception existed until last year when my cousin went to an all boys boarding school. All of my other cousins were all like "Oh yeah, Aaron's totally gonna come back gay" and when the first one started joking like that, I was kind of confused. I thought they were just saying that to be weird. Then after a while I realized they weren't just trying to be weird, and that it was an actual misconception. How flawed does someone's logic have to be to come up with stuff with this? Geez.

I attended one up till High School and then went to a military school that had only had women for 7 years (forced to by the courts) and followed that up by studying the civil action cases involved. I think they are a great idea and work very well. Studies show that single sex schools provide a better learning environment with less distractions. They also showed that there was no real downside to single sex education on the learning side but I do think that it must be balanced with social activities combining both genders. If we don't then we don't learn how to interact with people on a social level and that is just as important as the educational side.

If people can be more open about their sexual orientation in single gender schools then that's awesome. Co-ed isn't too bad either

I don't think that going to a single-gender school would make you gay. HOWEVER it may spark a curious thought though. I saw it happen when I was in college. The college down the road from us was a women's college. There was a girl there who I knew was straight, but as the semester went along she started dating my room mate.

I'm not saying that single-gender schools don't turn you gay, but the thought can pop up. Again, this doesn't mean that it turns you gay.

I only attended mix-gender schools my entire life, I got along better with guys than girls growing up lol

No, because that implies if everyone goes to a co-ed school they will be straight.
