FUNimation Adds ‘Chaos Dragon’ For Summer 2015 Anime Lineup

Posted by Chris Beveridge THE FANDOM POST

While FUNimation announced eighteen simulcasts for the summer season recently, they also mentioned that there should be twenty in total. The two mystery titles can be cut down by one today as the company has put up a series page for Chaos Dragon. They haven’t announced it yet but it’s pretty much a lock at this point.

The show is now set for a July 2nd, 2015 debut in Japan, the series is part of a multimedia project that’s tied to a boardgame and a smartphone game from Sega Networks and is based on the role-playing fiction project Red Dragon, which was created by five notable creators with Gen Urobochi, Kinoko Nasu, Iduki Kougyoku, Ryohgo Narita and Simadoriru.

The cast includes:

Marina Inoue as Ibuki, a descendant of the royal family of Nil Kamui. Created by Simadoriru
Miyuki Sawashiro as Eiha, Ibuki’s guardian who is fused with a demon. Created by Izuki Kōgyoku
Sōma Saitō as Soirot Clasbari, a member of Donatia’s prized black dragon knights. Created by Kinoko Nasu
Maaya Uchida as Rō Chenfa, an assassin from a religious organization in Kōran. Created by Gen Urobuchi
Unshou Ishizuka as Kagraba, a mysterious immortal trader from the independent city of Haiga. Created by Ryohgo Narita
Haruka Terui as Meryl
Jouji Nakata as the Black Dragon
Keiji Fujiwara as Simeon
Aimi as Ulrika
Haruo Satou as Enumael
Tomokazu Seki
Sayaka Ohara
Tōru Ōkawa
Eriko Matsui
Ryoko Shiraishi
Atsushi Tamaru
Ryohei Kimura as Sol
Aoi Yūki as Shaddy
Ayaka Imamura as Miska

The anime adaptation is being directed by Masato Matsune at Silver Link with overall series composition by Ukyou Kodachi with work by Shou Aikawa

Plot concept: The series takes place in Huanli (the Year of Dazzling) 3015. Donatia and Kouran, two countries fighting for supremacy, are causing the world to be torn apart due to the constant war. Amidst the strife is the island country Nil Kamui, which has lost its independence. Red Dragon, the guardian god of Nil Kamui, goes out of control. Will the island country be able to regain its independence

Episode 1

Hmm.....

Well that was tragic regarding what happened to Mashiro. I think the first episode and premise establishes a pretty serious story with the war and political conflicts between the three nations. As far as the Red Dragon goes, I hope we learn about it more. Losing a friend is never easy so the price Ibiki paid better be worth it.

Visual quality is good for the series along with the soundtrack. However, the storytelling seems to be a hit or miss for me so far.

Who could have seen this unexpected tragedy coming???

Finally this is up somewhere, only took them four days.

Wait, what, this has Kinoko Nasu writing the characters? This is a very strange group of people to get your story ideas from. I was actually ready to drop this, since the first episode was pretty boring and the season is pretty full as it is, but I might just keep this after all.

Watched the debut just a generic Akame Ga Kill.

It might have left me with a better impresiion but it reeked of too much game CG animation ! And lousy at that ! Silver Link usually does better! Of course IDK if it is licenesed or not maybe accocounting for the poor qualitly!

And the ED XXX ot Mashiro oh my ! There wiil be more !

Mashiromay had to sacrifice her self anyhow but that brat Kai he should be next what a stupid brat !

And Ibuki another Hero who just lacking something!

If ever gets simulcast right it might be better! And I am kinda spoiled by just some stunning debuts and good ongoing titled!

So we finally got the chaos dragon episode.

Not the best opening episode though.

The Exposition felt a bit clumsy and forced and it didn't really manage to build any of the characters very well.

The gist is basically an island kingdom gets molotov-ribbentropped and cut in two by two countries building their own empires, a dragon for some reason goes nuts and burns down stuff. The kingdom effectively ceases to be. The invaders so far are not portrayed as being frightfully diplomatic about things. And are seemingly intent on dealing with the red dragon, seeing it still as a threat.

We're then introduced to Ibuki, the prince of the fallen kingdom, hidden away at some orphanage/temple with bits of retinue including cute girl and priestess mashiro and what i am assuming is his head bodyguard. He's a pacifist sort of type. But beyond that. He's of very little personality really.

Some other characters are also introduced as being amongst the main actors. Some guy with his own bodyguard, talk of black dragons is involved. Is of nobility. but beyond that, not much else to really say

then we got some "sinister" girl. Even less to say about her.

And finally some beast-loli on a flying dog thing. Not frightfully emotional.

Either way. Head bodyguard hands ceremonial sword to Ibuki and sends him off, knowing that a certain chain of events will be set of.

After some trouble with the occupiers, the rebel army of which the bodyguard is leading strikes.. Surprisingly easy. Apparently a large group of men in uniform garb stirs no suspicion from the occupying troops.

Either way, nasty fighting ensues. Mashiro gets stabbed, Ibuki takes her away. Then makes a pact with the sinister red dragon and is then forced to take her life as part of a pact.

Something which Mashiro seemed to be expecting along the way. In a sense a sacrifical pawn being a priestess of the Red Dragon. So that stands out a bit and was certainly interesting. Anyways, ibuki gets buffed up by the Red Dragon and clears out Captain of the Occupying goons before proceeding to cry over mashiro

We also get a small picture at the end where she is crossed out. Not sure how i feel about that. Feels more crass than anything.

Another thing to note is how there seems to be steam technology and rifles amongst the more primitive things.

Visually it looks nice, and i suppose it has a certain flair to it. Though i am not a fan of some of the character designs.

But it felt messy as an episode. A bit clumsy. and i found myself struggling to care. It wants to be serious and dark and such. Killing off Mashiro and so on. And the fact that she was seemingly expecting it does show there's something greater under the surface. But since it was soo intent on showing off as many characters as possible. It really failed to build up anything with Ibuki and Mashio meaning that it was without much punch really.

I hope they get more focused and clearer as the series progressed, otherwise it is going to be difficult to give a damn about anything going on.

ep 1

Well, it looks like there's going to be a lot of deaths in this one. Second half of the episode was much better, though I'm not liking the MC that much. Then again, the death of Mashiro might act as a catalyst, so my opinion on that matter might change.

Either way, the staff involved in this are more than enough a reason to watch this.

The first episode is finally up on Funimation.

Episode 1

Right off the bat, this show is letting us know that we are in for a lot of deaths here, with Mashiro being the first to go and becoming the sacrifice for Ibuki to gain the power of the dragon. Overall, it's off to a promising start, but the execution of how things went down in this episode wasn't exactly seamless. Not to mention, I don't really like Ibuki here, but we shall see if that changes now that he is on a mission to defeat Kouran and protect the island.

Episode 1

This seems like it's going to be a trainwreck,I guess hope it becomes an entertaining one.

Couldn't help but laugh when Ibuki had to kill that one girl.
