Well, that was one heck of a way to end the episode. I just hope he doesn't have to keep slaughtering all his friends/allies to regain the country.

Glad to see Issei and Ddraig agai...... whoops. Wrong series .

Everything started out ok..... what a harsh price to pay. I didn't know anything beforehand, but so far it reminds me of Valkyrie Profile: Covenant Of The Plume. In that game the main character had to sacrifice allies to progress/gain strength.

Episode 1

This seems like it's going to be a trainwreck,I guess hope it becomes an entertaining one.

Couldn't help but laugh when Ibuki had to kill that one girl.

Yea it felt very forced, first he's a spineless coward about to hand over the important "ceremonial" sword, then he's all like i must save my country huzzah and stuff.

I'll watch 1 or 2 episodes then i'll decide whether I drop or not.

Dropped the moment they pulled an Owari no Seraph.

I've had enough of killing off characters that I start to like.

Even foxgirl can't make up for that.

I enjoyed that first episode but then again I really enjoyed Owari no Seraph's first episode too. Cautiously optimistic, but I think at worst it will be a lovable trainwreck. The art takes some getting used to but I think the only major flaw here was the lazy animation.

From the narration, seem like the cast will drop like flies.

Hmm, leaves much to be desired really - the character designs, the story telling, the jarring 3D used and lack of sympathy for the characters...

I was hoping more from it being based on notable character designers - maybe I can derive some entertainment from the alluded to deaths of the week.

The first episode had a lot of elements that were cliche, but it was entertaining nonetheless. I have a lot of hope for this series. That CGI doe...

Definitely set up to be a bloodbath, if the kill-chart is any indication. I wonder if Urobutcher had anything to do with this. I can imagine him sitting down to play the RPG, and the first thing out of mouth would be, "everybody's gonna die."

Episode 2

So now, every time Ibuki wants to use his power, he needs to sacrifice somebody close to him. So this time it's Kai's turn to die with Kohkaku laying waste to the land. And thus, Gen Urobuchi's influence has been made known seeing that this power requires a sacrifice for every use, not just to gain the power of the dragon. So after everything that happened, he's now joining the expedition so that he can do away with that power. Well, at least this episode made it clear that this is a power that shouldn't be used lightly, but it's something that needs to be used in order to end the way. I'm not sure if I'm up for more of this show, but at least it was less of a trainwreck than the first episode is.

Episode 2

Hmm....well the OP song is good.

However, the episode felt like a mess. They are repeating almost the same events again with another death (Kai). I suppose by now, it makes sense for Ibuki to say that his power is a curse rather than a gift....

I'm honestly a little shocked at how much better this episode was compared to the first. The opening and ending are good, the animation was noticeably better, the pacing and writing were better, the direction during the fight scenes was better, and the soundtrack is pretty good so far. Also, Seki Tomokazu voicing the coffin. Baller. I quite like the "one soul=one life/use of my power" thing with the dragon, as well. That has some interesting potential.
That said, the evil Kouran lady who got killed was annoyingly hammy and edgy, I'm still not digging the main character's design, and that is one butt-ugly CGI dragon. I'll keep watching to see if it stays like this, gets better, or reverts to crap.

Episode 2

Wants to be Ibuki's "friend" hmmm...

The episode better explains just how flawed the "gift" of the Red Dragon really is. One life for one soul? To make it even worse, the sacrifice has to be someone close and dear to you. Following the death of Mashiro last episode, Kai joins her as a sacrifice, but is killed not by Ibuki but at the claws of Lady Koukaku, who also burned down the entire orphanage. We find out that the sacrifice doesn't need to be killed at the hands of the Child of Contract, which is somewhat(?) relieving in its own way. Ibuki needs to start fighting on his own account and not by relying so much on the red dragon's power or he'll definitely become a broken man by the end of the war.
