Im thinking about getting back into 14 since theres really nothing else on the ps4 im playing or am interested in. Ive had an active sub since release, but havent actually logged in since fall of last year maybe. I played on Behemoth in the Shinra Corp guild, but transferred back to Midgarsormr where my friends were before I went on hiatus.

I recently started my free trial on the game, so far it seems very fun. I honestly expect myself getting sucked into this game, but don't know quite yet if it's worth the money for the subs (only started yesterday). What are the subscription plans for it?

Can casual people like me play? I'm thinking of quitting spending my money on Nexon for a subscription based game.

Yes, the game is certainly designed for casual players like you but also for hardcore players who want to spend more time on gearing up. If you are thinking about getting it on steam, I'd say don't touch a free trial if you plan to buy it to keep your character going unless you just want to try it. I heard various problems about the free trial due to the account management not able to register a new purchase key if the game is on steam.

The game is indeed casual in terms of difficulty scaling...Not time investment. If you're someone who can barely spend 2-3 hours a day on FFXIV, I wouldn't recommend it. Personally I loved FFXIV for the first year and then I got sick of how every activity there is to do in-game is a grind.

noooo that thing sucks.. I used to have one. Just get a bluetooth keyboard, youll love it.

My sub for 14 just re-upped, and Ive been on hiatus for quite a while. I think after I finish Type-0, I'll start getting back into 14

Been playing FFXIV since the 2.0 beta (I never witnessed the... experience that was 1.0) and I adore it. It's the only MMO that has, for me anyway, really managed to nail the balance between satisfying gameplay, a well-realised world and a genuinely good story. (The recent "finale" was amazing! Don't worry, I'm not going to post spoilers!)

One thing I really like about it is that it caters to a wide variety of players. If you're a casual player, you can play through the main scenario and "beat" it within roughly the same amount of time it takes to beat a single-player RPG. And you'll have a good experience doing so.

If you're someone who enjoys grinding -- I know you're out there! -- there's plenty of things to grind towards at endgame, be it new gear of the incredibly time-consuming but satisfying "Relic" quest, which rewards you with the best weapons in the game.

And if you're into hardcore raiding, the raids are challenging, exciting, well-designed encounters that will tax even coordinated groups if they're not paying attention. Older raids have their difficulties scaled down over time, too, so those who want to see the story content attached to the raid content can eventually do so without having to be at the absolute top of their game -- make no mistake, mind, Turn 5 and Turn 9 (I haven't started Final Coil yet so can't comment on T13; our group just beat T9 last week) are still particularly challenging!

I started playing this on August 2013 but left at the end of February 2014, never looked back. I think the game is wonderful but the grind and theme park MMORPG style doesn't really suit me. Started playing World of Tanks, then War Thunder, returned also to Mechwarrior Online. Lately I decided to sign up with World of Warships, and looking at Star Citizen, Heavy Gear Assault and Elite Dangerous.

WOW Mechwarrior is still a thing?!

Mechwarrior4 Vengeance was the first online game I ever played back in the day. I may still have my old joystick somewhere!

I had no idea that franchise, assuming its a continuation of the same one, was still around. I used to love that game and played on a pretty great team at the time. Clan Sigma. My old tags were {SIG} Bandit. Most of my teammates specialized in Novacats, while I ran around in a Shadowcat stirring up trouble.

Man, those were some good times back then.

It is a continuation of the old thing. Using CryEngine as the game engine. The mechs look far more modernized now. It is now in a massive online format similar to World of Tanks, with an automated matchmaker for the public queue. I play the Community Warfare mode mostly, which means you can fight for a faction and help conquer planets. The game is an F2P though, which means free to play but you might want to shelf out real money for premium time and premium mechs. Check out mwomercs.com.

Don't expect it to play like MW4 though. This is a different engine and a different game. There are controls for example, on boating for high alphas, poptarting and the like. We are also working from the 3050 time line, so older BT mechs are introduced first and gradually in chronology. So don't expect the Novacat to show up yet, although there is much people asking for it. The Shadowcat is due to be introduced this July. Still, we already have far more mechs than MW4 and its expansions combined.

Some pics if you like.
