1.) What anime would it be?

2.) Why does it need a remake (old, anime was bad/misrepresented, etc.)?

3.) What studio and/or director would you want to do it? *optional*

We all have a favorite classic anime, or story that was made into an anime. Some of these have seen the test of time and could use a reboot, or were so poor that it needs to be made over so that the story's true character can really shine. If you had the absolute choice on what anime got a remake, what would it be? Why? What studio or director? The last is optional, but I'm really curious.

I know this thread is a remake, but when I searched, the one I found was closed during forum cleanup.

Also, as with most my threads, I put more detail in my replies than I expect anyone else too...
So don't take my replies as an expected standard.

My choices:

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni + Kai

I know it's only about 10 years old, but the animation even for its time was very low quality. It made up for it with such a fantastic story that it is still ranked my #1 anime of all time. As for who I would want to do it, I would chose Takahiro Omori in tandem with Ufotable. Omori has done amazing work with titles like Baccano, Durarara. Most people know Uforable from Fate/Zero and UMB, but many might not know that they had their hand in helping animate amazing titles like Ah My Goddess, A Certain Magical Index, Code Geass, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and more. Their art direction is astounding, and they make an effort to keep the art close to its origin. I feel together they would do well with the graphic display of insanity that is Higurashi, nothing held back.

Sailor Moon

This is the anime that got me into anime before I even knew what anime was. I know that there is currently a remake, but in my opinion, it was an amazing idea executed terribly... I don't mind Toei Animation doing it (it's theirs after all), but their choice in art direction, story telling, and more was bad. I don't know if it was because they had a terrible director (Munehisa Sakai--has done DBZ and Naruto movies) or what, but I would have chosen Tatsuya Ishihara, one of the best romance directors of all time (Clannad, Haruhi Suzumiya, Fushigi Yuugi, Inuyasha, Amagi Brilliant Park, Beyond the Boundary) with Yukihiro Miyamoto as co-director (known for Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Bakemonogatari, Monster, Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei). I mean, it was an anniversary piece. They should have gone all out!

I know none of this is gonna happen, but I can wish, right?
