Synopsis
The life of a traveling merchant is a lonely one, a fact with which Kraft Lawrence is well acquainted. Wandering from town to town with just his horse, cart, and whatever wares have come his way, the peddler has pretty well settled into his routine—that is, until the night Lawrence finds a wolf goddess asleep in his cart. Taking the form of a fetching girl with wolf ears and a tail, Holo has wearied of tending to harvests in the countryside and strikes up a bargain with the merchant to lend him the cunning of “Holo the Wisewolf” to increase his profits in exchange for taking her along on his travels. What kind of businessman could turn down such an offer? Lawrence soon learns, though, that having an ancient goddess as a traveling companion can be a bit of a mixed blessing. Will this wolf girl turn out to be too wild to tame?

You'll love both. I saw the first two episodes at a con, and then rushed to the Dealer's Room and bought the 1st five manga.

It is a pretty good series. Compared to most of the other light novels I have read it has a more interesting plot compared to others; however, the plot moves a bit slower compared to other light novels I have read. For those that enjoy reading books like say the Harry Potter series, it might be too slow paced. You can think of it as one being a movie aiming for best picture at the Oscars while the other is a Marvel superhero movie.

Also while being slower paced, it isn't that slow, just slower relatively.

I am on volume 2 at the moment and I am pretty much diverting a lot of my time to read the light novel series. So far I love the light novels over the anime by a big margin. I just finished reading the scene in the inn room after Lawrence gets pegged by the gold bag Holo threw out the window in Luvenheigen. The scene in the light novel was su much more romantic than the anime, oh and Holo was naked in the novels.

I actually just read the first volume of Spice and Wolf with no background in the anime or manga. Just kinda bought it on a whim and it's a really interesting story.

Curious, where can I watch the anime nowadays or would I be better off going out and buying them?
