Anything that doesn't wow me and isn't offensively bad. I guess defining a series as average is difficult because, unlike loving or hating an anime, being average, for me, is based on a lack of emotion rather than a particularly strong one.

Average? Bleach, Mushibugyo, Pokemon... They aren't shockingly bad but they aren't GOAT either.

I will put this at above average. It is a generic harem, but unlike most generic harems I can honestly say I really enjoyed every episode. It doesn't exceed my expectations but it doesn't disappoint either, which is a pretty big accomplishment with anime. It does perfectly what it is intended to do.

I consider "average" to be any series I can watch to the end, but forget about by the next season, unless it shows up for an unexpected second cour a year or two later.

yona of the dawn: simple, basic story and characters. predictable. everything is spelled out for you.

akame ga kill: same as above. everything is spelled out for you, you clearly know who the bad guys are and who the good guys from the beginning... there's no sense of fear... that there is a traitor amongst the "good guys" group, no plot twists or turns... everyone trusts each other. Characters' deaths have no emotional impact... and at some point, I just wished some of them would die already.

I consider Seiken Tsukai no World Break & The Testament of Sister Devil average because it's your typical Harem Anime where we know the Male Protagonist won't chose any girl at the end . So when I'm really bored I watch them

Average? I guess stuff like

Dog and Scissors
Galilei Donna
The Mystic Archives of Dantalian
The Town Moves

Not particularly good or bad. Just kind of "average". To me personally, at least.

Log Horizon, actually may even consider that below average.

Captain Earth is average. First episode had a lot of potential and then it just got convoluted and weird. The characters were enjoyable though so it wasn't too bad.

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Definitely in the average zone.

LH is kind of hard for me to talk about in terms of good and bad. LH has an awesome world and setting that is actually really unique, it's plot is interesting too, but its characters are written very clumsily... The story demands characters that are a bit deeper and more realistic but they turn out pretty one dimensional and cartoony on screen and it just ruins the flow of the story.

If you gave the LH setting to the guy who wrote Death Note/Bakuman, I think he could make a story that I'd rank at least 8/10. That's how I feel about Log Horizon.

I can agree with this.

The characters are my biggest gripe for the most part, so my opinion is fairly similar.

I would have loved for it to have more realistic characters and was a bit darker. It's just, I can't really take the show too seriously since the characters don't even take anything seriously themselves. If they don't take it seriously, then why should I? If you're there for the game mechanics then that's fine, but that doesn't interest me when I can just go play a video game myself. In general, I like some type of pull with the story and characters in a series otherwise I start having problems. I've never really felt that "pull" with LH.

I don't have one character I care about in the show and it has a huge cast. I find that a big problem.
