Used to be a hikikomori around my high school days.
I stopped going to school on two different occasions. I never left my room, for months. It was as bad as it looks in the shows (welcome to the nhk for reference, except I would at least keep my room clean). It got to the point where I wouldn't eat because I was so depressed and had so much anxiety the only time I would eat would be if my parent left food by the door or force fed it when I was half asleep and on a bunch of medications. It was bad. Not something I'm proud of or EVER want to go back to.
Now I'm just a NEET. I can't comfortably leave my house, but I do and it's significantly less hard than it used to be, makes me wonder how I even had such a difficult time leaving my room. It's unfathomable, yet it's what I did (or didn't do I should say.)

No , However in 2011 when I quit playing sports I didn't really came outside. I only played videogames and watched anime , but my best friends eventually got me out of the house and introduced me to basketball. Now I am most of the outside playing basketball or hanging out with friends.

I don't think you can be classified as a NEET at 12 years old, since the (employment / workforce training) portions of NEET are unavailable to you at that age anyways.

I'm a NEET, but I'm not a hikkomori. While I do have some social anxiety (due to my Aspergers), it usually affects me only when I'm in the presence of someone I deem important and/or in a potentially life-changing situation (such as college advisors, the person who works at the DMV, and job interviewers). Being around regular people doesn't normally bother me (though I do often have problems having conversations/making small talk). While there have been times where I stayed in my house for a few days, after a certain amount of time I get "Cabin Fever" and feel that I must leave if only to go eat dinner with my parents or take a walk around the neighborhood. Besides, I do occasionally have to leave the house to buy more manga, anime, and/or video games (and in case you are wondering how I can buy things without a job, I have a nice grandma who gives me money and giftcards for Christmas and my birthday).

I mean I stay at my house a lot but if a chance arises to go out, I'm going out. So never really been a hikikomori, and as for a NEET not really old enough to be employed so a no again

No I'm neither. I just got my first job and I'm still in high school, even though I switched to online this year. I honestly don't think my parents would allow me to be either, even if I wanted too lol. Like at the beginning of the summer I just hung out with friends everyday and slept. Then my dad yelled at me about how I better do something productive or he'll force me too. Like no joke I stayed indoors for 2 days because I was feeling bad cause of Taco Bell and they started asking if I was anti social and saying I need to go outside more...

I'm happy though, I like working cause I like buying things and I need money HAHA

I'm a hikiomori. I used to drink to tolerate social situations and then I gave up. My boyfriend is also a NEET/hikiomori so we are always inside and don't have much motivation to socialize.

No. I mean I was for about 6 months. I just graduated from college and had trouble landing a job until I landed this seasonal position I have now. I hope I don't go through the same process again.
